Actor Mikhail Efremov was released from prison on April 9, 2025, after serving time for a fatal drunk driving accident. The release, which took place at the IK-4 penal colony in Alekseevka, Belgorod region, was granted due to the actor's deteriorating health condition, as confirmed by his lawyer, Yuri Padalko.

"He needs to undergo treatment because he developed a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease," Padalko noted. The actor expressed a desire to return to filming after his recovery, stating, "He is a talented artist who loves his profession and misses it very much."
In his court appearance, Efremov promised to quit drinking and vowed never to drive again, acknowledging his guilt in the tragic accident. His former lawyer, Andrei Aleshkin, remarked that no objections were raised by the victims' family regarding Efremov's early release, which facilitated the court's decision.
