The highly anticipated sequel series to The Handmaid's Tale, titled The Testaments, is gearing up for its debut.
After a six-year wait, fans can rejoice as significant updates have emerged. Mike Barker, known for his work on the acclaimed series Fargo, has been announced as the director for the first three episodes of The Testaments, as well as an executive producer for the show.
Barker is not new to this world; he previously directed 12 episodes of The Handmaid's Tale, winning two Emmy Awards for his outstanding contributions. The British director's portfolio also includes the popular ITV series Broadchurch and a new thriller titled Malice, which is set to premiere on Prime Video later this year.
In terms of casting, Chase Infiniti, known for her role in Presumed Innocent, has been selected as one of the main leads of The Testaments. Moreover, Ann Dowd is confirmed to reprise her role as Lydia, a character that fans have grown to love. While additional directors for the remaining episodes have yet to be disclosed, filming is expected to start in Canada shortly.
The narrative of The Testaments is set in the dystopian society of Gilead, taking place more than 15 years after the conclusion of The Handmaid's Tale.
