Mike Bailey Joins AEW And Sets Sights On Success

After a decorated tenure with TNA, the former champion makes his debut in AEW, ready to compete on the big stage.

“Speedball” Mike Bailey is now officially part of AEW following the expiration of his TNA Wrestling contract at the end of 2024.

Bailey, a former TNA X-Division Champion, made his final appearance for TNA in late October and was unable to sign with any promotion until January 1, 2025, because of contractual obligations. Since then, both AEW and WWE showed interest in signing him. However, his AEW debut saw delays due to visa processing issues.

Finally, on March 12, 2025, Bailey made his long-awaited debut on AEW Dynamite. Speaking about this pivotal moment in his career, Bailey said in an interview with Bleacher Report, “It was time for me to step up and make it to the big leagues, and AEW is where the best wrestle. In my opinion, it’s where I belong.”

Despite the significant interest from WWE, Bailey expressed his clear preference: “Right now, AEW is my focus. It’s where I want to be, it’s where I want to wrestle.” He underlined that his time away, focusing on renewing his visa, only added to his excitement about joining AEW.

Beyond his tenure in AEW, Bailey is eager to explore opportunities with renowned wrestling promotions in Japan and Mexico. “Wrestling for New Japan and CMLL and going to those places to represent AEW would be a huge honor,” he mentioned, expressing an ambition to broaden his horizons internationally.

Bailey's next challenge is set for the March 19, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he will compete in a high-stakes eliminator match for the AEW International Title. He faces formidable opponents: Orange Cassidy, Mark Davis, and Ricochet.

This pivotal match could set the stage for Bailey's future in AEW, showcasing not only his skills but his ambition in front of a broad audience. As he prepares for this high-profile bout, Bailey reflects on his journey through professional wrestling.

“My favorite thing to do in pro wrestling so far has been going around and going to so many places,” he shared. “When I couldn’t come to the U.S. for five years, I actively made the decision to be in as many places as possible” he added. Bailey detailed his travels, mentioning months spent in Japan, Europe, and Canada enhancing his experience.

Bailey's commitment to wrestling variety reflects a strong desire to grow in the industry, allowing him to thrived on the independent scene across America over the past three years under his previous contract.

His subsequent transition to AEW marks a significant progression in his career, considering the organization’s high caliber of talent and reputation.

Now, with his sights set on competing at the elite level, Mike Bailey is ready for the big leagues, eager to once again thrill professional wrestling fans.

With his debut and upcoming matches, the wrestling community watches closely, eager to see how Bailey will leverage his skills in this new chapter of his career.
