The finals will feature a unique pillar-less design, ensuring unobstructed views for the audience. A professional stage audio-visual team, renowned for their work at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and other major events, will create a visually stunning atmosphere for the competition.
The competition has reached its climax with seven finalists: Zhang Yu-chen, Huang Bo, Liu Yang, Li Jin-kai, Zhao Jun-cheng, Zhan Shi-ting, and Chen Rui-ying. Chief Executive Xu Tao JP has shown his support by personally encouraging the contestants, creating a lively and motivating environment.
Judging the finals will be a panel of esteemed professionals, including Yip Sai-man, Cheung Chi-pong, and Show Lo, who will evaluate the contestants based on their singing skills, star quality, and dance abilities. Each judge can award a maximum of 20 points in the first round, where the contestants will perform their "Must-Kill Songs." After discarding the highest and lowest scores, each contestant's total score will be calculated out of 100 points. Additionally, the audience's votes will contribute to the scoring, with the top two audience favorites receiving 20 points each.
Contestants can earn a maximum of 120 points in this round, and the top three will advance to the second round, dubbed the "Fast Song/Slow Song Decisive Battle." In this final round, contestants will also receive points based on their audience votes, with the ultimate winner being determined by the combination of judges' scores and audience rankings.
As the competition draws near, the finalists have expressed their thoughts and emotions. Zhang Yu-chen, often referred to as the "Male Big Devil," admitted to feeling anxious, stating, "I am really looking forward to the finals, as I want to stand on stage and sing my final song, 'One Moment in Time.' Moreover, tomorrow is Mother's Day, and I feel it is very meaningful to sing for my mother on this day." He reflected on how his mother had given up her music dreams to support the family and has now entrusted her dreams to him.
Huang Bo, known as the "Female Big Devil," expressed her desire for a peaceful night's sleep before the finals. "I hope to enjoy the stage with a calm heart. Regardless of the outcome, I feel like I have already won by making it this far. The biggest gain from this competition is rediscovering the free-spirited version of myself," she said, adding that her parents had come to Hong Kong to support her.
Li Jin-kai shared his emotional journey, stating, "It took me 24 years to come to Hong Kong and stand on this stage. I never imagined my singing could touch so many people. Friends have told me that my performances have helped them feel less anxious, and that realization has filled me with excitement and gratitude. I have finally found my own value." Liu Yang echoed similar sentiments, noting that the biggest reward from participating in "Midlife 3" was the friendships he had formed, which felt like family.
Meanwhile, Zhao Jun-cheng revealed that his greatest motivation comes from his family, especially his son. "I want to show him that I am working hard to achieve something and that I have not given up on my dreams," he shared.
Zhan Shi-ting expressed his determination to win, stating, "When I first appeared on stage, everyone thought I was just a gimmick. I have proven them wrong. I have worked incredibly hard over the past nine months, and learning to sing Cantonese songs has been my toughest challenge yet." In contrast, Chen Rui-ying candidly admitted to having contemplated withdrawing from the competition due to the pressure and criticism she faced online. "It hasn't been easy, and sometimes the songs I perform don't resonate with everyone. However, my faith has been my support system throughout this journey," she said.
Judges and hosts have also weighed in on the competition. Chow Kwok-fung humorously remarked that the finals feel like a "battle of airplanes and cannons," indicating the high level of talent among the finalists. He noted that the competition is fierce, and choosing the right song is crucial to success.
As the excitement builds for the finals, viewers are encouraged to vote for their favorite contestants through various platforms, including myTV SUPER, tvb.com, TVB Anywhere, and 埋堆堆. The contestant receiving the most votes will be awarded the "Audience's Favorite Good Voice" title.
