JSW MG Motor India has officially launched the Windsor EV Pro, an upgraded version of its popular electric vehicle, at an introductory price of ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 8,000 bookings, starting May 8, 2025. This new variant aims to enhance the driving experience with a larger battery pack and a host of advanced features.
The Windsor EV Pro is equipped with a 52.9 kWh battery that offers a claimed range of 449 km on a single charge, a significant improvement over the standard Windsor EV’s 38 kWh battery, which provides a maximum range of 331 km. Despite the increase in battery capacity, the electric motor's power output remains unchanged at 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, ensuring a consistent performance level.
One of the standout features of the Windsor EV Pro is its Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, allowing buyers to purchase the vehicle for ₹12.50 lakh (ex-showroom) while opting for a battery rental at ₹4.5 per kilometer. This model aims to make electric vehicles more accessible to a broader audience by reducing the upfront costs.
In terms of design, the Windsor EV Pro retains the familiar silhouette of the standard model but adds new 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The exterior is further enhanced with three new color options: Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver, appealing to a wider range of customer preferences.
Inside, the Windsor EV Pro distinguishes itself with a new beige interior theme that replaces the previous all-black scheme, enhancing the cabin's overall ambiance. The updated interior also features faux wood trim, ventilated front seats, and a powered tailgate, making it a more comfortable and convenient space for occupants.
Safety and technology upgrades are highlighted by the inclusion of a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which incorporates features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking. These enhancements not only improve safety but also elevate the driving experience to a new level.
Additionally, the Windsor EV Pro introduces Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, allowing the vehicle to power external devices and even charge other electric vehicles. This feature is particularly useful for those who may need to use their car's battery to power appliances during outdoor activities or emergencies.
The MG Windsor EV Pro continues to build on the success of the standard Windsor EV, which has been India's top-selling electric car since its debut in September 2024. In April 2025, MG sold 5,829 vehicles, marking a 23% increase compared to the same month the previous year. With electric vehicles making up over 85% of MG's total sales, the company is clearly capitalizing on the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions.
As for the competition, the Windsor EV Pro is set to challenge rivals like the Tata Nexon EV and Hyundai Creta Electric, offering a compelling mix of features, performance, and value. The introduction of the Pro variant is expected to further solidify MG's position in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle market.
With bookings opening soon and an enticing introductory price, the Windsor EV Pro is poised to attract attention from prospective electric vehicle buyers looking for a reliable and feature-rich option. As the market continues to shift towards electric mobility, MG's latest offering is a timely response to consumer demands for innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector.
In conclusion, the MG Windsor EV Pro represents a significant step forward for the brand, combining enhanced performance, advanced technology, and a stylish design to meet the needs of modern drivers. With its competitive pricing and impressive features, it is sure to make waves in the Indian electric vehicle landscape.
