The Government of Mexico is gearing up for the 2025 Pension Bienestar program registration, which opened on February 17 and will remain accessible until February 28, 2025. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to senior citizens aged 65 and older, individuals with disabilities, and women beneficiaries under the Women Bienestar program. According to Ariadna Montiel Reyes, the Secretary of Bienestar, "El registro para la Pensión Bienestar ya está en marcha y permanecerá abierto hasta el 28 de febrero."
Over the past months, this program has proven beneficial for more than 15.2 million individuals, highlighting its significance within the community. The government has earmarked around 86 billion pesos for various social support programs, with 76.03 billion pesos allocated for the pensions, directly aiding about 12.2 million beneficiaries. Other support systems include the Women Bienestar Pension, contributing to roughly one million beneficiaries, and the Disability Pension reaching 1.3 million individuals.
Registration for this highly sought-after benefit will take place at designated modules across the nation, where eligibility will be based on the initial letter of the beneficiary's last name. Claudia Sheinbaum, the President of the City of Mexico, stated, "Las nuevas fechas de registro van del 17 al 28 de febrero." This staggered registration scheme is set to prevent long waiting lines, ensuring access for everyone eager to enroll.
The registration timetable is as follows:
- A, B, C: February 17 and 24
- D, E, F, G, H: February 18 and 25
- I, J, K, L, M: February 19 and 26
- N, Ñ, O, P, Q, R: February 20 and 27
- S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z: February 21 and 28
- All letters: February 22
Potential beneficiaries are reminded to prepare and bring various documents when registering, which include:
- Official identification (INE, passport, INAPAM credential, etc.)
- Unique Population Registry Code (CURP)
- Birth certificate
- Proof of address (no older than six months)
- Contact phone number
Those unable to visit the registration center themselves may appoint someone else to handle the process on their behalf. This auxiliary person will also need to furnish the required documentation.
Beyond the pension distribution, there is also provision for a one-time death payment, summing up to 3,100 pesos, directed to the registered auxiliary of the deceased beneficiary. This payment reinforces the government's commitment to supporting families of beneficiaries beyond their lifetime.
By early March, the government plans to disburse the payment corresponding to the second bimonthly period, with expected increases. Starting from 2025, the bimonthly amount has been raised from 6,000 pesos to 6,200 pesos, reflecting the government's dedication to improving financial support for its most vulnerable citizens.
For those wishing to find the nearest registration unit, information will be available on the official Bienestar website, where local addresses can be retrieved based on the user’s state and municipality. The public can also reach the Bienestar Line at 800 639 4264 for any inquiries.
The Pension Bienestar program, implemented during Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's administration, continues to thrive under the current leadership, significantly impacting the lives of millions by providing not only monetary support but also access to quality healthcare services.
