Mercedes-AMG Unveils Exclusive APXGP Edition At Miami Grand Prix

Limited to 52 units, this special AMG GT model celebrates the upcoming film starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris.

Mercedes-AMG has unveiled a highly exclusive version of its GT 63 4Matic+, the "APXGP Edition," at the Miami Grand Prix, coinciding with the upcoming release of the Formula One-themed film, "F1," starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. Limited to just 52 units, this special edition coupe draws inspiration from the fictional APXGP team featured in the film, showcasing a unique blend of automotive performance and cinematic flair.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, was filmed during real Grand Prix weekends, featuring actual Formula One races. Pitt portrays a retired driver making a comeback, with Idris as his ambitious teammate at APXGP. The collaboration between Mercedes-AMG and the film's production team ensured that the vehicles used were not only visually stunning but also technically authentic, with AMG providing the F1 Safety and Medical Cars along with various models from its lineup.

Michael Schiebe, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "With the exclusive APXGP Edition, we're creating a limited number of GTs that blend AMG's excitement with the cinematic masterpiece F1." This sentiment reflects the brand's commitment to merging high-performance engineering with the thrilling world of motorsport cinema.

The APXGP Edition is distinguished by its striking handcrafted paintwork that mirrors the movie car's livery, featuring race-gold accents and matte-gold forged 21-inch wheels. This attention to detail is not merely cosmetic; the car is equipped with the full 430kW output from AMG's 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, which sends power to all four wheels via a sophisticated 4Matic+ system. The vehicle's semi-active suspension with rear-axle steering enhances handling, while aerodynamic features, including a fixed rear wing, underline its track-ready design.

Inside, the APXGP Edition continues the theme of luxury and performance with gold detailing throughout the cabin. The AMG Performance seats are upholstered in Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre, complemented by a race-gold-stitched steering wheel and illuminated "APXGP" sills. The car also boasts a Burmester 3D surround sound system with a powerful 1170W output, AMG Track Pace telemetry for data capture during racetrack driving, and a panoramic roof with ambient lighting, creating a sophisticated driving environment.

Each of the 52 APXGP Edition cars will be individually numbered and delivered with a bespoke indoor cover, making them a collector's dream. The official sale of the APXGP GT is set to coincide with the film's theatrical release, starting June 25, 2025, in New Zealand.

The film "F1" promises to captivate audiences worldwide with its thrilling narrative intertwined with genuine racing footage. Set to open in North America on June 27, 2025, the film features a star-studded cast, including Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, and Tobias Menzies, alongside the lead actors Pitt and Idris. The collaboration with Formula 1 and its community adds an extra layer of authenticity to the film, ensuring that fans of the sport will appreciate the realistic portrayal of the racing world.

As the excitement builds for both the film and the limited-edition car, Mercedes-AMG continues to showcase its dedication to performance and innovation. The APXGP Edition not only highlights the brand's engineering prowess but also its ability to connect with popular culture through cinematic storytelling. With its unique features and limited availability, the APXGP Edition is poised to become a sought-after collector's item, merging the thrill of motorsport with the allure of Hollywood.
