Diablo Cody, the Oscar-winning screenwriter known for her work on Juno, has expressed excitement about the possibility of creating Jennifer’s Body 2. "I think it was always my dream, but I certainly didn’t think it would be realistic," Cody shared during an interview with Nylon. Despite the movie's initial commercial failure, she now sees the potential for the sequel to come to fruition. Cody highlights the unexpected success of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer television series, which emerged after the film version was not well-received, as a reason for hope. "People rarely want to make sequels to films...that don’t perform. Now I feel like it could be possible," Cody said, indicating her readiness to pitch the project around Hollywood.
Fox echoed the sentiment about the feasibility of making another installment, stating, "I don’t think it’s a hard movie to make a sequel to. I mean, they should make it at the TV series. Cody reflected candidly, "There was a time when it was painful for me to talk about Jennifer’s Body, because you know. That movie was a commercial failure, and I was savaged personally... It traumatized her for sure, and it sucked for me as well." Contrarily, Amanda Seyfried, though she felt the film was overlooked, did not endure the same fallout as Fox and Cody - which has strained her communication with Cody. "We’ve never really had a serious conversation about what happened with Jennifer’s Body,” Cody said about Seyfried. "It was really Megan who took the brunt of the criticism. It traumatized her for sure, and it sucked for me as well."
