McDonald's Debuts Evangelion Burgers Starting January 2025

Three special burgers featuring A.T. Field-inspired buns set to launch, accompanied by exciting promotions.

McDonald's Japan is set to launch three limited-time "Evangelion Burgers" as part of their second collaboration with the beloved anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion, starting January 6, 2025.

The new menu items will include the "Chopped Potato & Thick Beef Rich Garlic Mayo" burger, priced at 540 yen (approximately $4), the "Mexican Cheese Chicken" for 490 yen (approximately $3.70), and the returning favorite "Cheese Double Teriyaki" at 530 yen (approximately $4). Each burger will feature specialty buns inspired by the series' A.T. Field, promising fans not only volume but also thematic depth.

According to McDonald's, the "Chopped Potato & Thick Beef Rich Garlic Mayo" boasts a juicy 100% beef patty combined with thick potato components, all complemented by flavorful garlic mayo. The "Mexican Cheese Chicken" offers fans a spiced chicken patty with taco meat filling, catering to those seeking some zest. On the other hand, the "Cheese Double Teriyaki," which previously gained popularity, will make its return with two pork patties coated in teriyaki sauce, topped with creamy cheese and served within the special A.T. Field buns.

McDonald's is also gearing up for marketing initiatives, including the rollout of the new TV commercial, which airs from January 5, showcasing scenes from the anime set to the show's theme song, “A Cruel Angel's Thesis.” The commercial aims to highlight the unique collaboration effectively, introducing the new burger flavors to both anime fans and loyal customers.

Prior to the burger launch, McDonald's celebrated its collaboration's success with promotional figures of iconic characters from the series, features of which include the Big Mac Unit-01, French Fries Unit-02, and Shake Unit-00 sold as limited-edition items.

Rounding out the marketing buzz, there will be countdown videos and online campaigns leading up to the burger launch. Enthusiasts can share their excitement using the hashtag #EvangelionBurger on social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), for a chance to win McDonald's gift cards.

Japan's revered fast-food chain, famed for its adaptability, continues to innovate its offerings amid changing customer preferences and societal trends. The collaboration with Neon Genesis Evangelion, celebrating the anime's 30th anniversary, serves as another creative avenue for McDonald's Japan to engage with its customer base.

Stay tuned for the launch of these unique burgers beginning January 6, 2025, at local McDonald's locations, where fans can immerse themselves not only in the culinary experience but also the imaginative world of Evangelion.
