Mayday Gears Up For Historic Concerts At Kai Tak Sports Park

The band will perform four shows from May 9 to 13, attracting thousands of fans to Hong Kong.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming concerts, Taiwanese rock band Mayday is set to take the stage at the Kai Tak Sports Park Main Stadium in Hong Kong from May 9 to May 13, 2025, for their highly anticipated "#5525 Back to That Day" tour. The event marks a significant milestone as Mayday becomes the first Asian band to perform at this newly constructed venue.

The concert schedule is meticulously planned, with gates opening for audience admission at 5:00 PM and the show commencing at 7:00 PM. Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early, especially as the admission times coincide with the evening rush hour, which is expected to create a surge in public transport usage.

To facilitate smooth access to the venue, the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) Tuen Ma Line will enhance its services, with train frequencies increased to every 2 to 3 minutes during peak times. This adjustment aims to accommodate the influx of attendees, particularly after work hours, when many fans will be heading to the concert.

"We advise all concert attendees to plan their journeys ahead of time and allow ample time for travel," the MTR spokesperson stated. The Kai Tak Station and Sung Wong Toi Station, both located near the venue, are expected to experience heavy traffic as concertgoers disperse after the show.

For those planning to use public transport, the Kai Tak Sports Park is easily accessible from the D exits of both Kai Tak Station and Sung Wong Toi Station, which are approximately a 10 to 15-minute walk from the venue. Attendees can also consider bus services to the Kai Tak Public Transport Interchange or take a ferry from North Point Ferry Pier to Kowloon City Ferry Pier, followed by a short walk to the stadium.

As for parking, concertgoers are advised against driving to the venue, as there will be no parking facilities available. Instead, nearby parking lots such as Airside can be utilized for those who need to drive.

In preparation for the concerts, fans are reminded to bind their official Mayday light stick to their mobile app before the show. The app allows users to pair the light stick with their assigned seats, enhancing the concert experience. Instructions for binding the light stick have been provided, ensuring that fans can easily connect their devices.

Self-service ticket machines will be available at various locations, including the Kai Tak Youth Sports Ground and the Cross-boundary bus boarding area, from May 9 to May 13. These machines will operate from noon to 9:00 PM, allowing attendees to collect their tickets conveniently.

In addition to the concerts, official merchandise will be available for sale at designated points around the venue, including the Airside area and Central Square. Merchandise sales will be open from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, ensuring fans have the opportunity to grab souvenirs from the event.

As the event approaches, the weather forecast indicates a possibility of rain, prompting organizers to advise attendees to dress appropriately and avoid bringing long umbrellas into the venue. Only plastic or silicone water bottles with a capacity of 600ml or less will be permitted, and attendees should refrain from bringing any liquids or lids.

Concertgoers are also reminded to allow sufficient time for security checks and ticket scanning upon arrival. The venue will implement strict entry protocols, and once inside, attendees will not be permitted to leave and re-enter.

For those planning to travel back to mainland China after the concert, the Transport Department has issued a reminder regarding the last train times on the East Rail Line. The final trains to Lo Wu Station will depart at 10:59 PM from Sung Wong Toi Station and at 11:01 PM from Kai Tak Station, making it crucial for cross-border passengers to plan accordingly.

To further assist attendees, Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) will operate seven special bus routes from the Sung Wong Toi Road drop-off area after the concert, connecting various districts in Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories. These additional services aim to ease the transportation burden during the dispersal period.

The excitement surrounding Mayday's concerts at Kai Tak Sports Park is palpable, with fans eagerly preparing for what promises to be an unforgettable experience. As the first Asian band to perform at this venue, Mayday is set to make history, and their loyal fanbase is ready to support them in full force.

As the event unfolds, attendees are encouraged to stay updated on transportation details and venue regulations to ensure a smooth and enjoyable concert experience. With careful planning and adherence to guidelines, fans can look forward to an exhilarating celebration of music and camaraderie.
