Masaharu Fukuyama, the celebrated Japanese singer and actor, is preparing for another exciting chapter as he announces his 35th anniversary dome tour. The announcement came during his winter live concert series titled 福山☆冬の大感謝祭 其の二十二 GUITAR HERO That’s what I live for, which began on December 26, 2024, at K Arena Yokohama. This marks the singer's return to the dome stage after seven years.
The 35th anniversary festivities promise to showcase Fukuyama's illustrious career, featuring scheduled performances at three prominent venues: Kyocera Dome Osaka on August 30 and 31, Belluna Dome (Saitama) on September 14 and 15, and Mizuho PayPay Dome (Fukuoka) on September 27 and 28, 2025.
This celebration will highlight the incredible musical achievements Fukuyama has made over more than three decades since his debut. "The upcoming dome performances will be monumental as we look back at the past 35 years of music-making and audience engagement," Fukuyama said.
The winter concert series, now running for its 22nd year, adopts the title GUITAR HERO That’s what I live for, deeply reflecting his love and passion for music, particularly the guitar. Fans can expect to see Fukuyama play his guitar more than ever, where every note will evoke memories and emotions nurtured through his career.
Fukuyama's impact on his audience is undeniable, and he emphasizes the collective experience of his music-making. "2024 was the year to run through music with the audience," he mentioned at the kickoff of the winter concert, highlighting the concert series as not just performances but as collaborative festivities with his fans.
This year has seen Fukuyama connect closely with his audience through various events, including the nationwide arena tour earlier in 2024. This tour spanned six months, covering 17 locations and involving 35 performances, captivating approximately 300,000 attendees. His free concert held at the newly opened Nagasaki Stadium City, named Great Freedom, attracted over 25,000 attendees from over 530,000 applicants, illuminating his popularity and the deep connection he has cultivated with fans.
The objectives of the free concert reached beyond entertainment; Fukuyama aimed to create lasting memories through live music. "The free concert at Nagasaki Stadium City aimed to be remembered for many years to come," he pledges, underlining his commitment to enriching community culture through music.
Alongside the winter concert, Fukuyama is holding a photography exhibition titled LEICA LIVE LIFE III 花とミツバチ、涙と音楽, featuring selected photography shot with a Leica camera from his travels around Japan. This exhibition runs concurrently with his concerts at K Tower and recognizes the blending of visual art and music.
Fukuyama’s engagement doesn’t stop at exciting performances and exhibits; he also continues to release captivating content. On December 18, he released his live film, FUKUYAMA MASAHARU LIVE FILM 言霊の幸わう夏@NIPPON BUDOKAN 2023, showcasing his previous live performances. His presence at the forthcoming 第75回NHK紅白歌合戦 on New Year’s Eve marks yet another highlight, serving as the last performance of the white team for the fifth consecutive year, orchestrated to conclude the year’s music activities.
