Marvel Reveals Avengers: Doomsday Details At CinemaCon

The upcoming film features a star-studded cast uniting against Doctor Doom in a multiversal showdown.

During the highly anticipated CinemaCon 2025, Marvel Studios unveiled thrilling details about its upcoming blockbuster, Avengers: Doomsday. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, appeared via video from the film's set in England, where he confirmed that this new installment will feature a star-studded cast of heroes from various Marvel teams, all uniting to face the formidable Doctor Doom, portrayed by none other than Robert Downey Jr.

Feige announced that Avengers: Doomsday will center around the Avengers, the Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, the Thunderbolts, and the original X-Men, as they confront the evil Doctor Doom. "The film will involve a global and multiversal intervention by Doctor Doom, who is known for his mastery of mystical arts and advanced technology," Feige explained.

This revelation is particularly exciting for fans, as the absence of the Guardians of the Galaxy and magic-related characters, such as Moon Knight and Werewolf by Night, was noted. However, the focus on Wakanda suggests that the nation will play a significant role in the storyline, even after the tragic passing of the Black Panther.

In a dramatic twist, Robert Downey Jr. will not reprise his iconic role as Iron Man. Instead, he will take on the role of Victor Von Doom, a character known for his genius intellect and dangerous capabilities. Feige hinted that the plot will extend beyond a simple hero-versus-villain narrative, with Doctor Doom threatening entire realities, necessitating the Avengers to seek help from new allies and even former adversaries.

Fans were also treated to the confirmation of an impressive ensemble cast. Returning to their roles are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Letitia Wright as Black Panther, and Winston Duke as M'Baku. Tom Hiddleston is also back as Loki, adding to the excitement.

New characters will also join the fray, including Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Danny Ramirez as Falcon, and the newly formed Fantastic Four, featuring Pedro Pascal as Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Thing. The Thunderbolts will also make an appearance, with Florence Pugh as Yelena, Wyatt Russell as American Agent, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry.

Perhaps the biggest surprise came with the announcement that classic X-Men characters from the Fox films would be returning. Sir Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Professor X, while Sir Ian McKellen returns as Magneto. Other familiar faces include James Marsden as Cyclops, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Channing Tatum, who will finally make his debut as Gambit.

As the excitement builds, Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere in Brazilian cinemas on April 30, 2026. This film will serve as a crucial bridge to Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled for release in 2027, marking the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga that has unfolded since Avengers: Endgame.

With such a diverse array of characters and an ambitious storyline, Avengers: Doomsday is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The combination of returning fan-favorites and new heroes promises to deliver an epic cinematic experience that fans won't want to miss.
