Maricá Prepares Traffic And Maritime Safety For Carnival 2025

Special measures aim to secure safe celebrations during the city's vibrant festivities.

Maricá City is gearing up for its annual Carnival with comprehensive traffic regulations and maritime dry law operations to deliver a safe experience for festivities scheduled from February 28 to March 9, 2025. With 90 street blocks and over 150 free shows set to occur, the local government has laid out specific measures to manage the influx of visitors and participants effectively.

The Prefeitura de Maricá has been proactive, establishing various roadblocks starting on February 28 at 4 p.m. These will remain until March 4 to facilitate safe passage for carnival-goers. Major interdicts will occur at key points, including the Circuito Adélia Breve, keeping celebrants organized and secure during the festivities.

Local officials have confirmed closure plans for Avenida Vereador Francisco Sabino da Costa and Avenida Benvindo Taques Horta during specific hours. These routes will see traffic disruptions, particularly between commercial districts and main avenues. The authentic carnival experience is expected to attract massive crowds, with alternate routes provided to mitigate traffic congestion.

To maintain the flow of the traffic during the celebrations, alternative pathways will be available for those needing to leave the city. Specifically, traffic will reroute via Rua Pereira Neves and extend to Rua Adelaide Bezerra, ensuring access remains unhindered. The operations have been timed strategically, said local officials, to allow for seamless transitions between blocks and activities.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian Navy has initiated its maritime dry law operations aimed at ensuring safety on the waterways around Maricá. These operations kicked off the weekend prior to Carnival and focus on enforcing regulations on the lagoons, channels, and coastal areas. Captain Couto, from the Capitania dos Portos do Rio de Janeiro, emphasized the importance of maintaining security as water traffic increases around this festive season.

“Nessa época do verão nós intensificamos as ações de presença devido ao aumento do fluxo do tráfego aquaviário. O canal de Ponta Negra é uma área bastante específica, e a Marinha do Brasil, em Coordenação com a Prefeitura, vem exatamente esclarecer e fazer uma boa separação entre os banhistas e as embarcações que aqui trafegam,” Captain Couto stated. His words highlight the collaborative efforts to separate recreational spaces from busy traffic areas.

The operations not only enforce the prohibition of jet skis, especially near popular areas like Ponta Negra, but they also aim to prevent any accidents similar to recent incidents which saw injuries involving watercraft. This careful approach ensures both fun and safety at the forefront of Maricá’s Carnival celebrations.

With street festivities and waterway safety measures firmly established for Carnival 2025, Maricá City stands ready to welcome both locals and visitors alike. While the streets will be vibrant with parades, the waters remain regulated to secure safety for everyone involved. The collaborative nature of these operations between city officials and the Brazilian Navy sets the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable celebration.
