Maremma curiosities: the legend of “Busa delle Fate”

In the Grossetano Maremma, among the hills surrounding the village of Scansano, there is the legend of the “Busa delle Fate.” This natural cavity hidden in the woods is said to be inhabited by magical creatures: the fairies. It is said that these entities would come out at sunset to dance on the moonlit meadows, enchanting anyone who watched them with their beauty. Locals still advise against getting too close to the “Busa” during full moon nights to avoid falling victim to their enchantments. This legend is an integral part of Maremma's cultural heritage and testifies to the richness of myths and tales that characterize this land.
