Marches And Concerts Highlight A Day Of Advocacy In CDMX

From calls for peace to lively concerts, Mexico City embraces advocacy and celebration on March 22, 2025.

Throughout the bustling streets of Mexico City, as the sun rises on March 22, 2025, an array of voices and actions are set to converge in what promises to be a significant day of advocacy and celebration. Multiple marches, concerts, and rallies are scheduled, showcasing a vibrant mix of social concerns aimed at fostering a more just society.

The day kicks off with the "Marcha por la Paz," organized by the La División de Justicia y Paz de la Diócesis de Azcapotzalco. Starting at 10:00 AM from Parque de la China at Av. Clavería and Ignacio Allende in Colonia San Miguel Amantla, participants are expected to number around 150. The march aims to demand an end to violence in Mexico and to advocate for the construction of a more equitable society. The route will take marchers along Ignacio Allende, Eje 3 Norte Camarones, and more, culminating at the Deportivo 20 de Noviembre "La Rosita" located on Calz. Azcapotzalco-La Villa.

Joining this chorus of activism is the Frente por la Defensa de los Derechos de los Pueblos y Barrios del Anáhuac (FDDPBOCA), which has planned an additional gathering for 11:00 AM. They will be present at Circuito Estadio Azteca No. 42 in Colonia Pueblo Santa Úrsula Coapa in Alc. Coyoacán, and later at Semillero Zacapan in Santa María Nativitas in Alc. Xochimilco throughout the day. This protest will voice concerns over real estate mega-projects that threaten community water supplies, coinciding with the global observance of World Water Day. The expected turnout is about 200 individuals.

Later in the day, at 12:00 PM, the HIJAS DE LA CANNABIS are set to host a lively event called "Street Rave 4:20" at the Museo Memoria y Tolerancia located at Av. Juárez No. 8. Targeting cannabis users' rights, this gathering seeks to assert the need for safe and inclusive spaces for consumers, with around 100 participants anticipated.

As the afternoon unfolds, ACADÉMICOS CON PALESTINA CONTRA EL GENOCIDIO are holding an artistic festival called "Desde el Río Hasta el Mar". This event will take place at 2:00 PM in Plaza "Manuel Tolsá”, Tacuba No. 8 in the Centro Histórico, with an expected attendance of 50. Their mission is to express solidarity with the Palestinian people, emphasizing resistance against illegal occupation and other humanitarian concerns that have persisted for decades.

Throughout the city, additional activities are planned, as authorities forecast one major march, three concentrations, and several motorcycle and bicycle rides as well as 30 recreational events, creating a complex tapestry of public engagement.

On the entertainment front, the bustling metropolis will gear up for a wave of concerts that evening, further energizing the atmosphere. An exciting array of performers is scheduled to take the stage, including the Colombian star Don Omar, who will perform at the Explanada del Estadio Azteca at 8:00 PM. Attendees should prepare for large crowds; easy access will be available via Metro Line 2 to reach the concert vicinity.

Meanwhile, J-hope from BTS is slated to perform at 7:30 PM at Palacio de los Deportes. Attendees can conveniently use Metro Line 9, with stations like Velódromo nearby, making it accessible for fans eager to catch the high-energy show.

Simultaneously, the iconic duo Pimpinela is set to perform at the Auditorio Nacional at 8:30 PM, also attracting significant audiences. Strategically accessing this venue can be accomplished by using Metro Line 7 or the Metrobús which stops right outside the event.

However, potential disruptions are on the horizon. Authorities warn that services on Metro Line 9 may encounter delays due to preventive maintenance at the Chabacano-Centro Médico interstation. Moreover, the Metrobús could face interruptions due to recently reported blockades on Insurgentes and Paseo de la Reforma. Those planning to attend the concerts are urged to allow for an extra 30 to 45 minutes in travel time to avoid potential delays.

The convergence of social activism through marches and celebrations via concerts today illustrates a dynamic cultural fabric in Mexico City, where voices for peace, rights, and community resilience come together amidst the challenges of urban life. As these events unfold, residents and visitors alike are to navigate the joy of live performances alongside the important calls for justice echoing through the streets.

With every passing hour today, from morning marches pushing for peace, to the eclectic rhythms of music echoing across stages, the city demonstrates a commitment to both expression and a communal spirit, encapsulating the essence of active citizenship.
