March Payments Begin For Pensión Del Bienestar Recipients

This month, eligible beneficiaries can receive increased funds, with notable changes due to upcoming elections.

On March 5, 2025, the Mexican government commenced the disbursement of the Pensión del Bienestar, a financial support system aimed primarily at older adults. This program provides assistance to citizens aged 65 and above, ensuring they have access to regular income to help cover basic needs.

The Secretariat of Welfare, under the guidance of Ariadna Montiel, announced earlier this week the timeline for the payments, which are scheduled to run from March 3 to March 27, 2025. On this day, beneficiaries with last names starting with the letter 'C' will receive their payments for the March-April bimester.

According to Montiel, approximately 15.2 million individuals are enrolled in the program, which encompasses not only older adults but also women beneficiaries and people with disabilities. "The distribution of funds is structured by the first letter of the beneficiaries' last name, providing clear organization and ensuring timely assistance to those who need it most," she stated.

This month, the payment amount for the bimonthly support is set at 6,200 pesos, reflecting a 200 peso increase from the previous year. It marks significant progress, as just seven years ago, beneficiaries received only 1,160 pesos per month. The Pensión del Bienestar has evidently become more integral to the economic stability of many households—benefiting more than 15 million older adults across the nation.

For those particularly lucky, residents of Veracruz and Durango will be seeing double payments this March. Due to the electoral ban surrounding state elections scheduled for June 1, 2025, the federal government decided to advance the payments for the May-June bimesters. These beneficiaries can expect to receive 12,400 pesos this month, helping them navigate the difficulties of the electoral period without losing financial support.

The detailed calendar, shared by the government, indicates the release schedule based on the first letter of last names:

  • March 3: Last names starting with A

  • March 4: Last names starting with B

  • March 5: Last names starting with C

  • March 6: Last names starting with C

  • March 7: Last names starting with D, E, and F

  • March 8: Last names starting with G

  • March 10: Last names starting with G

  • March 11: Last names starting with H, I, J, and K

  • March 12: Last names starting with L

  • March 25: Last names starting with T, U, and V

  • March 27: Last names starting with W, X, Y, and Z

It’s important for beneficiaries to remain vigilant with the payment schedule, as well as to prepare the required documentation if they are newly registering for the Pensión del Bienestar. Essential documents include valid government identification, proof of age (birth certificate), and proof of residence no older than six months.

For beneficiaries who might encounter issues with their payment, the government provides various channels for assistance. Individuals can consult the official website by entering their CURP or call the hotline at 800 639 4264, ensuring they have their personal information at hand to resolve queries efficiently.

Overall, the Pensión del Bienestar has emerged as a pivotal mechanism, not just for those 65 and older, but also extending to vulnerable groups including disabled individuals and women who are heads of households. The program’s growth and increased financial support showcase the government’s commitment to improving the standard of living for many Mexican families.

With efforts to streamline the payment process through bank deposits, beneficiaries enjoy greater convenience—allowing them to access their funds via the Tarjeta del Bienestar, which can be used for both withdrawals and transactions.

Finally, this initiative reflects both social responsibility and economic growth, as the federal government seeks to bridge the financial gaps affecting the most vulnerable populations during challenging times. Information and updates will continue to be provided as the payment periods progress, ensuring beneficiaries are not left uninformed.
