Starting March 3, 2025, the government of Mexico will initiate the payment schedule for the Pensión Bienestar program, covering the bimonthly period of March and April. This announcement was made by Ariadna Montiel, the Secretary of Wellbeing, during President Claudia Sheinbaum's morning conference. The program is set to benefit over 15 million individuals, representing a significant social investment exceeding 87 billion pesos from the federal government.
The payment arrangements will be made through the Bancos del Bienestar, organized according to the initial letter of each beneficiary's surname. It is important for recipients to know the designated payment date, which will help them access their funds without confusion.
Here’s the detailed payment schedule:

This bimonthly support will see older adults receive 6,200 pesos; women under the Women’s Wellbeing program will get 3,000 pesos; and people with disabilities will receive 3,200 pesos. Meanwhile, children will receive between 1,650 and 3,720 pesos, depending on their age. All these payments are distributed to improve the living conditions of those who benefit from them.
A significant alteration this period is the double payment for residents of Durango and Veracruz, where elections are scheduled for June 1, 2025. Ariadna Montiel explained, “El pago en este bimestre será doble, debido a la veda electoral,” which means beneficiaries from these states will receive 12,400 pesos this month to account for both the March-April and the anticipated May-June payments. This advance is necessary to comply with electoral regulations established by the Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE), which restrict the distribution of social support during election periods to maintain electoral fairness.
Residents of Durango will be voting for 39 mayoral positions, as well as various local councilors, whereas the state of Veracruz will see elections for 212 municipal councils and various other local positions. The staggered payment process ensures beneficiaries receive their funds without violating electoral laws.
The Pensión Bienestar program has become renowned for its impactful role as one of the leading social programs run by the Mexican government, directly aimed at alleviating poverty among vulnerable populations. This latest adjustment, and the detailed payment calendar, highlights how the program is responsive to the socio-political climate of the country.
Payment for the Pensión Bienestar will be paused during weekends and will not be processed on the federal holiday to honor the birthday of President Benito Juárez on March 17, 2025. This strategic move ensures beneficiaries get their support without delay and with minimal confusion.
The payments slated for March and April will resume as scheduled, with no additional suspensions indicated for the remaining states involved. Eligible beneficiaries are encouraged to stay informed through official channels or direct announcements from the Secretary of Wellbeing as necessary changes or provisions are made known.
Overall, the Pensión Bienestar continues to play a pivotal role as the Mexican government takes measures to support its citizens, particularly during times of political transition. This proactive approach ensures the financial needs of numerous households remain met, reflecting the government’s commitment to social welfare and equitable access to resources.
