MANTOVA – The Mantova football team secured a significant 3-1 victory over Frosinone at the Stadio Danilo Martelli, giving their fans much to cheer about after over a month without wins. The home team capitalized on their opportunities, showcasing impressive offensive play during the first half, scoring all three goals within 20 minutes.
Coach Davide Possanzini's side started off strong when Davide Bragantini netted the opening goal at the 23rd minute, taking advantage of a defensive error by Frosinone. He was quick to convert from close range, asserting Mantova's intent to dominate the match. Just 15 minutes later, Simone Trimboli doubled the lead, expertly finishing off a well-constructed team play initiated by Fiori, who provided the assist to Trimboli’s precise shot.
Sealed before halftime, Mattia Aramu scored Mantova's third goal shortly before the whistle, bringing the score to 3-0. Like his teammates, Aramu capitalized on another defensive mix-up by Frosinone, confirming Mantova's control over the game and sending the home crowd to their feet.
Frosinone, desperate to turn the tide, made substitutions at halftime and returned to the pitch with renewed vigor. Their efforts paid off when Tjas Begić found the back of the net just ten minutes after the break, making it 3-1. His shot, arcing beautifully past Mantova goalkeeper Marco Festa, reignited hope for the traveling fans, but it wasn’t enough to change the match's momentum.
Despite Frosinone's attempts to claw back, including hitting the woodwork twice, Mantova maintained their composure and stability, defending against the relentless but disjointed efforts from the visitors.
“We are very happy with the victory and how we obtained it,” said Coach Possanzini post-match. “We were good at approaching and interpretting the match the right way, with spirit and will.” This win moved Mantova up to 22 points, positioning them closer to playoff contention with hopes high for their next challenging away game against Spezia shortly.
On the contrary, this loss was another blow for the Frosinone team, which has seen fluctuated fortunes this season and currently sits near the bottom of the table with just 16 points. The defeat has left them questioning their gameplay, struggling to establish consistency and confidence.
The match began with both teams eager to establish dominance, but Frosinone quickly fell prey to defensive lapses. Coach Leandro Greco's frustration was evident as individual players struggled to maintain their positions and make effective contributions throughout the pitch.
Both teams faced disciplinary pressures, with several yellow cards handed out due to aggressive play, particularly from the Frosinone side, where Ebrima Darboe and others were booked during the match. A total of seven yellow cards were issued, illustrating the intensity of the encounter.
The match concluded with Mantova effectively closing down the game, managing the clock efficiently and demonstrating tactical acumen, as they rebuffed Frosinone's attempts to apply pressure.
With the scoreboard reading 3-1 at full time, spectators, totaling over 6,000, left the stadium optimistic about Mantova's potential swing toward higher standings and prospects for the rest of their campaign.
