Maïka Desnoyers, the charismatic host and real estate agent, recently took to Instagram to discuss the financial hardships her boutique, Fauve Collection, is currently facing. Since its launch in 2021, Fauve Collection, which offers various women’s products made and created right here in Quebec, began with great success but has encountered several unexpected challenges this past year.
Initially,Desnoyers captured the hearts of customers with unique handbags, jewelry, and accessories. The budding entrepreneur celebrated strong sales during the premiere of her brand, bringing excitement and hope for its potential growth. Yet, the bright picture has dimmed as the reality of running a business began to set in.
Translation: "I’m taking this moment to make a confession: the first year of Fauve Collection went really well, the second year we rushed and we are still rushing, because we wanted to go to Promenades Saint-Bruno, I've cheated on the site (…), there were so many unforeseen expenses. I’m trying to keep my head above water these days with this company because I truly want it to continue, I love the products I make, and everyone who buys them loves them too. I hope 2025 will be muchbetter for all of us, I’m not complaining, I’m not dying, but it has been truly difficult this year from this perspective. I just started my business, so I’ve really lost a lot of money. Don’t hesitate to go buy, we will help each other!".
Her statement reflects not just personal struggles but also the wider economic climate affecting many small businesses today. Rising costs of living and delays, partly due to issues with services like Canada Post, have created numerous hurdles for entrepreneurs like Desnoyers.
Despite the challenges, Desnoyers continues to demonstrate her love and passion for Fauve Collection. "Je trippe sur les produits que je fais. Tous ceux qui achètent trippent aussi," she emphasized, reaffirming the joy she finds in her creations and the enthusiasm of her customers.
Looking forward, Desnoyers optimistically states, "J’espère que 2025 va être meilleure pour nous autres," highlighting her hope for recovery and growth. She expressed resilience and determination, hinting at her plans for the coming year even as 2024 draws to a close.
It’s also worth noting the personal trials Desnoyers has faced outside her business. This year, her son was hospitalized due to injury, adding another layer of stress to her already challenging circumstances.
Despite these burdens, fans and followers eagerly await Desnoyers’ return to the television screens. She is set to co-host the popular show Vendre ou Rénover alongside Daniel Corbin, starting January 7, 2025, at 8 PM on Canal Vie. This return is highly anticipated, signaling her resilience and continued dedication to her passions.
Fauve Collection’s narrative is emblematic of the many young businesses striving to thrive amid obstacles. Maïka Desnoyers' story is one of determination, creativity, and the hope for brighter horizons, not just for herself but for all young enterprises facing similar challenges. With her passion guiding her, the future looks hopeful, and her loyal customer base remains supportive.
