Family Promise of Greater Washington County, which plays a pivotal role in aiding families wrestling with homelessness, has received substantial financial support from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. The trust's generous grant of $259,000 aims to bolster the organization's mission by creating new leadership roles and enhancing donor relationships.
Executive Director Lanndhese Talice emphasized the organization’s commitment, stating, "Family Promise of Greater Washington County is dedicated to equipping families and vulnerable communities to break the cyclic of homelessness." This initiative encompasses various services, including emergency shelters, mentoring, financial education, and advocacy, aimed at guiding families to achieve stability and independence.
Families experiencing hardships can find refuge at the Beaverton House Shelter and the newly renovated Hillsboro House Shelter. Talice highlighted the importance of stable housing and shared information on how the organization assists families through rental support and building connections to affordable housing opportunities.
Talice remarked, "The grant is a transformative investment in the future of Family Promise of Greater Washington County. It is truly game changing. The funds will support the creation of a Director of Development position, enabling us to build a sustainable funding model to strengthen our ability to serve families in need." This new role will concentrate on establishing diversified funding streams as well as nurturing donor relationships.
The strategic use of the grant money will also focus on developing innovative long-term support strategies for the organization’s various programs. Colby Reade, vice president of strategy and communications for the Murdock Trust, noted, "When we look at organizations, we’re considering how they are serving the whole person. Organizations like Family Promise are doing remarkable work by creating comprehensive service collections to help advance people forward."
