Mahindra Cuts Prices On XUV700, Competing With Tata Safari

The price drop makes the flagship SUV more accessible to consumers amid rising vehicle costs.

Amid a current trend where many automotive brands are increasing their vehicle prices, Mahindra & Mahindra has taken a surprising step in the opposite direction by slashing the prices of its much-anticipated XUV700 model. The price cut, amounting to Rs 75,000, affects multiple variants of this flagship model aimed primarily at family-oriented consumers.

The price adjustment has specifically been implemented for two of the XUV700 variants, namely the AX7 and AX7 L. The AX7 model, available in both petrol automatic seven-seater and diesel automatic configurations, has seen a price drop of Rs 45,000, while the AX7 S has received a higher cut of Rs 75,000. These updates make the XUV700 a more appealing option in its competitive landscape, especially against rivals like the Tata Safari.

When it comes to performance, the Mahindra XUV700 is offered with two engine choices: the 2.0 L mStallion Turbo Petrol and the 2.2 L mHawk Turbo Diesel. The petrol variant boasts a commendable power output of 197 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, making it a formidable contender in its class. Meanwhile, the turbo diesel engine provides different outputs, with the MX variants delivering a peak power of 152 horsepower and 360 Nm torque, while the AX variants step it up to 182 horsepower and 420 Nm torque.

In addition to its impressive engine specs, the Mahindra XUV700 is equipped with a raft of modern features that enhance both comfort and safety. Consumers can expect a wide 26.03 cm infotainment system equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities, a rotary knob for infotainment control, and an advanced Sony 12-speaker audio system. Additional features include a reverse camera with park assist, an electronic parking brake, and a 360-degree camera setup that adds to the driving experience. Notably, the vehicle also offers a driver drowsiness alert function, ensuring safety on long journeys.

As of now, the pricing landscape for the XUV700 ranges from Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base AX7 variant to Rs 24.99 lakh for the AX7 L diesel automatic version. This positioning, especially in light of the recent price reductions, enhances the model's competitive edge in the market. Additionally, the newly launched XUV700 Ebony Edition, which features an appealing all-black aesthetic including 18-inch black alloy wheels and corresponding black leather upholstery, begins at a starting price of Rs 19.64 lakh (ex-showroom).

The reduction in prices for the XUV700 not only signifies Mahindra's commitment to providing affordable luxury in the SUV segment but also showcases its strategic moves in a highly competitive market where many brands are opting for hikes. With rising consumer demand for SUVs and the ongoing rivalry with established brands like Tata, this initiative could bolster Mahindra's market presence and attract a broader spectrum of customers.

In conclusion, Mahindra's decision to reduce the pricing of the XUV700 showcases a calculated step to enhance its appeal amidst a crowded field. As customers continue to weigh value against features, the price drop coupled with robust performance and advanced tech offerings positions the XUV700 strongly against its rivals. With both introductory and upgraded price points, Mahindra seems poised to make a significant impact in the SUV market.
