The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) officially announced the results for the Class 12 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams today, May 5, 2025, at 1 PM. This year, a total of 1,427,085 students registered for the exams, which were conducted from February 11 to March 11, 2025, across 3,373 examination centers throughout the state. Students can now access their results via several official websites including mahresult.nic.in and hscresult.mkcl.org.
The overall pass percentage this year stands at 91.88%, a slight decline from 93.37% in 2024. Out of the 1,417,969 students who appeared for the exams, 1,302,873 successfully passed. This year, the pass percentage for boys was recorded at 89.51%, while girls outperformed with a pass percentage of 94.58%. The results have shown a notable achievement with 20,943 students being awarded additional marks for excellence in sports or scout and guide activities.
Students can check their results by entering their roll number and their mother's first name as per their hall ticket. However, due to heavy traffic on the websites, some students may experience delays in accessing their results. The board has advised patience during this peak time.
Looking at the stream-wise results, the Science stream recorded a pass percentage of 97.35%, while Commerce students achieved a 92.68% pass rate. The Arts stream, however, saw a decline, with only 80.52% of students passing, down from previous years. The vocational courses had a pass percentage of 83.3%. Interestingly, out of 154 subjects, 37 subjects achieved a perfect 100% pass rate.
In terms of division-wise performance, the Konkan division topped the charts with a pass percentage of 96.74%, while Latur had the lowest at 89.46%. The MSBSHSE has confirmed that no student secured 100% marks in this year's examinations, which is a significant point of interest among the student community.
Students who are not satisfied with their results can apply for re-verification of their marks from May 6 to May 20, 2025, at a fee of Rs 50 per subject. For those who did not pass the exams, supplementary exams are scheduled to commence from July 7, 2025, with specific dates to be announced tentatively in June 2025.
Sharad Gosavi, the chairman of the MSBSHSE, confirmed that the board has registered 11 FIRs against students for cheating across 124 centers, including two in Pune and seven in Sambhaji Nagar. This measure aims to uphold the integrity of the examination process.
As students await their official hard copies of the marksheets, they are encouraged to download and print their provisional marksheets for future reference. The official marksheets will be distributed through their respective schools shortly.
With the results now out, students and parents alike are engaging in discussions about future educational paths, considering options such as higher education and vocational training. The Maharashtra board has announced plans to introduce a new syllabus and exam pattern for the academic year 2027-28, which may further influence students' decisions moving forward.
In summary, the Maharashtra HSC results for 2025 reflect a competitive academic environment, with significant achievements and areas for improvement. As students navigate the next steps in their educational journeys, the MSBSHSE continues to provide support and resources for those seeking further assistance or clarification regarding their results.
