The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) is gearing up to announce the results for the Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) board examinations for the academic year 2024–25, with expectations set for May 2025. According to MSBSHSE chairman Sharad Gosavi, the results for both classes will be declared by May 15, 2025, a timeline that aligns with previous years’ trends.
This year, the board saw a significant number of registrations, with over 15 lakh students signing up for the HSC exams. Among them, there are 8,10,348 boys, 6,94,652 girls, and 37 transgender students. In terms of the SSC exams, a total of 16,11,610 students registered, including 8,64,120 boys, 7,47,471 girls, and 19 transgender candidates from 23,492 secondary schools.
Historically, the Maharashtra HSC results are typically announced before the SSC results. For instance, in 2024, the HSC results were declared on May 21, followed by the SSC results on May 27. This pattern is expected to continue, with the HSC results likely to be revealed in the third week of May and the SSC results in the last week of the same month.
The examinations were conducted in an offline mode earlier this year, with the HSC exams taking place from February 11 to March 18, 2025, and the SSC exams from February 21 to March 17, 2025. The board has a commendable track record of maintaining high pass percentages, with last year’s HSC pass percentage at 93.37%. Girls outperformed boys, achieving a pass percentage of 95.44% compared to boys' 91.60%. The SSC exams also recorded a notable pass rate of 95.81%, highlighting the effective educational efforts across the state.
As the announcement date approaches, students are advised to prepare their login credentials to access their results promptly. Results can be checked on the official result portal at mahresult.nic.in by entering their roll number and mother’s first name. Additionally, results will be accessible through various platforms, including the DigiLocker app, UMANG app, and SMS services.
In light of the anticipated surge in traffic to the board’s website during the result declaration, Maharashtra Information Technology Minister Ashish Shelar held a joint review meeting with MSBSHSE officials. He emphasized the need for the board’s website to undergo regular load testing and capacity enhancement to handle the influx of students checking their results simultaneously. Shelar stated, "Cyber security is now a critical issue. A detailed report on the steps required to secure the board’s website must be submitted within seven days," ensuring that the digital infrastructure is robust enough to support the demands of the students.
Furthermore, the Maharashtra Board has opened a new registration window for private candidates intending to appear for the SSC and HSC board examinations scheduled for July-August 2025. This initiative aims to accommodate students who missed the earlier registration deadline for the February-March 2025 exams, ensuring that all eligible students have a chance to participate in the upcoming examinations.
Students and parents alike are encouraged to stay informed through official announcements and updates regarding the results. The MSBSHSE has reiterated its commitment to transparency and efficiency in the examination process, aiming to provide timely results while maintaining security and accessibility for all students.
As the results are set to be released, the anticipation among students is palpable. With a significant number of students relying on these results for their future academic endeavors, the MSBSHSE's efforts to streamline the process will be crucial. The board’s commitment to enhancing its digital capabilities is expected to alleviate some of the stress associated with result day, allowing students to focus on their next steps, whether that be further education or entering the workforce.
In summary, the MSBSHSE is on track to declare the HSC results by mid-May, followed by the SSC results later in the month. With a record number of registrations and a focus on improving digital infrastructure, the board aims to provide a smooth experience for students eagerly awaiting their scores.
