Magician Fabian Blochberger Dazzles On Das Supertalent

The 26-year-old illusionist impresses the jury and secures a spot in the finale after an extraordinary performance

On Saturday evening, April 12, 2025, Krumbach magician Fabian Blochberger will showcase his talents on the RTL show "Das Supertalent," where he hopes to impress the jury comprising Dieter Bohlen, Bruce Darnell, Ekaterina Leonova, and Tony Bauer. The anticipation is palpable as viewers await the outcome of his performance and whether he will advance to the finale next week.

Blochberger, a 26-year-old from Krumbach, district Wiener Neustadt, previously applied to the show three years ago but was turned down due to a lack of capacity for a large magic show. "Back then, I received a rejection stating they had no room for such a big magic act," he recalled. Now, he stands on the brink of his dream, ready to captivate the audience with a new twist on his famous telepathy act, in which he will telepathically summon audience members onto the stage.

"I was quite nervous, especially since I was told beforehand that Bohlen dislikes magicians," Blochberger admitted with a laugh. However, he found Bohlen to be surprisingly friendly during their encounter. His performance is expected to be a highlight of the evening, especially as he has been honing his craft since discovering his passion for magic at the age of ten.

Last year, Blochberger toured Austria, performing in numerous sold-out venues, and he sees "Das Supertalent" as his first significant step beyond the borders of his home country. "I plan to take the audience on an exciting time travel journey with items from the audience," he teased about his next number.

In the second episode of "Das Supertalent," the dynamics among the jury members were put to the test. Darnell and Bohlen found themselves at odds over a particularly daring performance by aerial acrobat Alénee Aisha. While Bohlen was unimpressed, Darnell was so fascinated that he assisted Aisha in a daring stunt, removing a needle from her throat during her act.

"I have seen many quick-change shows, but that was the best," Bohlen praised Solange Kardinaly, who previously placed fourth on "America's Got Talent." In a humorous twist, Bohlen shared a personal anecdote about his girlfriend Carina, revealing that she falls asleep quickly when they go to bed, saying, "When I say, 'Come, let's go to bed,' she’s already lying down and snoring!" This unexpected revelation drew laughter from the audience.

Blochberger's teleportation trick, where he astonishingly transported randomly selected guests from the audience, earned him the coveted golden buzzer from both Bohlen and Darnell, securing his place in the finale. "This had something of Copperfield about it," Bohlen remarked, referring to the legendary magician David Copperfield, while Darnell, nearly speechless, added, "I’ve seen so much, but this was on another level."

Despite Blochberger's success, not all contestants fared well. While 15 out of 18 candidates progressed to the next round, Stefan Choné, known as "Mr. Bauchrolle," received a firm rejection from the jury. Inta Serebro also faced elimination after her rendition of "Tulpen aus Amsterdam" failed to resonate with the audience, leading to her exit from the competition.

Alénee Aisha's act, which involved her performing acrobatics while standing on needles, proved too intense for some viewers, prompting a few to leave the studio. Host Knossi warned the audience of potential fainting spells, adding to the tension of the evening.

In contrast, the Ukrainian duo "Duo Stardust" showcased breathtaking roller-skating acrobatics, impressing both the jury and the audience. The show also featured various other talents, including a unique performance by Anja Luna, who played the harp while performing aerial acrobatics, and a young guitar prodigy, Yuyan Zhang, who wowed the crowd with his skills.

As the new season of "Das Supertalent" kicked off on April 5, 2025, the initial viewership numbers were disheartening for RTL. The premiere episode attracted only 1.43 million viewers, translating to a market share of 6.4 percent—significantly lower than the previous year's average of nearly 13 percent. The competition was fierce, with the ARD's "75 Jahre ARD" special drawing in 6.42 million viewers, while Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf's quiz show garnered an impressive 11.9 percent market share.

In response to these disappointing ratings, RTL will need to strategize on how to enhance viewer engagement for future episodes. As the season progresses, it remains to be seen whether the show can recapture its audience and maintain its status as a staple of Saturday night entertainment.

With the finale approaching, all eyes will be on Blochberger and the other contestants as they vie for the coveted title. The stakes are high, and the excitement is building as the audience eagerly anticipates who will emerge victorious in this year's talent showdown.
