The winter season at Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo has come alive with ski enthusiasts flocking to the Dolomiti di Brenta ski area, creating an enchanting atmosphere enhanced by this year’s beautiful snowy landscapes. The ski slopes are fully operational, and with the successful collaboration of various ski resorts within the area, tourists are experiencing winter sports at their finest.
Bruno Felicetti, the General Director of Funivie Campiglio, expressed his satisfaction with the record attendance this season, stating, "Siamo molto soddisfatti delle presenze e di come si presenta oggi la Skiarea che è prossima al 100 per cento delle aperture." This year has seen the completion of many enhancements across the ski areas of Madonna di Campiglio, Folgarida-Marilleva, and Pinzolo, offering visitors not only breathtaking views but also an extensive range of services and amenities.
The excitement doesn't stop there. For the holidays, ski lifts will open early every day from December 28 until January 5, except for January 1, at 7:30 AM, allowing eager skiers to hit the slopes one hour earlier, with fully snow-covered trails. This initiative perfectly encapsulates the local commitment to ensuring memorable snowy experiences. Felicetti noted, "Da sabato 28 dicembre a domenica 5 gennaio 2025, fatta eccezione per il 1° gennaio, gli impianti della Skiarea entreranno in funzione alle 7:30, offrendo la possibilità di sciare un'ora prima."
One of the exciting new offerings is the Starpass ski pass, which allows skiers and snowboarders to pay for their actual skiing time rather than requiring them to prepaid full-season subscriptions. This is particularly advantageous for those spending just weekends or short holidays on the slopes. The holiday season itself will be marked by numerous entertaining events spread throughout various venues within Madonna di Campiglio, including the newly opened après-ski spot, Super G.
Marking its place as the hub of winter sports, Pinzolo recently hosted the FIS Telemark World Cup on December 20 and 21, attracting competitors from around the world, including Norway, France, and the UK. Local athletes provided exciting performances on the course, which was impeccably prepared by Funivie Pinzolo Spa. The event witnessed skillful displays, with Nygaard Trym Loeken from Norway taking first place on both days of the competition.
The first race saw the Norwegian emerge with the fastest time of 2:21.03. He was closely followed by France's Yoann Rostolan and Noe Claye, securing second and third places, respectively. The women’s category was equally competitive, with England’s Jasmin Taylor winning the first race, clocking 2:36.26. These thrilling races are significant as they contribute to the overall esteem and recognition of the region as a premier destination for winter sports.
Adding to the local charm, the “Telemark & Food Experience” workshop offered participants the opportunity to learn the skiing technique alongside tasting exquisite local cuisine, illustrating the region's rich culinary traditions alongside its athletic pursuits.
While the slopes buzz with excitement, authorities remain vigilant about safety regulations. During the recent peak weekend, the Carabinieri conducted checks across the ski area. They penalized three ski instructors for failing to adhere to communication protocols with the province, and 13 skiers were sanctioned—three for skiing under the influence, one for excessive speed, and nine for skiing on closed trails. This proactive effort emphasizes the importance of safety on the slopes, ensuring all visitors can enjoy winter activities responsibly.
Overall, the winter season at Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo continues to thrive, with both locals and tourists engaging enthusiastically with winter festivities. This excellent representation of ski culture, coupled with the area's beautiful scenery and well-organized events, solidifies its status as one of the leading winter destinations. The community anticipates more engaging events leading through the New Year and beyond, making winter 2025 one for the books.
