This forewarning has prompted the New York Police Department (NYPD) to take drastic measures.
One of the notable plans includes using large vehicles—sanitation trucks among them—positioned strategically to block entry points and deter any potential “bad actors.” This tactic aims to prevent acts such as vehicle ramming, which have increasingly been employed by attackers at crowded events.
