Luján Gears Up For Major Gaming And Cultural Weekend

The city will host gaming competitions and cultural events to celebrate community engagement and historical reflection.

On Saturday, March 22, 2025, Luján will host the Liga Bonaerense de Videojuegos, a major gaming event that promises to engage the local community with an exciting lineup of competitions. Organized by the municipality of Luján, the Instituto Cultural de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, and LC e-Sports, this event emerges following last year's successful gathering of over 400 players.

The event will take place from 14:00 at the Sindicato Luz y Fuerza, located at the intersection of Av. Lorenzo Casey and Luciano Reyes. Participants, including teams and individual players of all ages, will compete in popular video games such as FIFA, League of Legends, Valorant, Counter-Strike, Free Fire, Clash Royale, and Formula 1. Notably, there will be prizes for winners in each category, as well as raffles throughout the day.

Interested players are encouraged to register in advance by completing a simple form on the LC e-Sports website (www.lcesports.com.ar) or contacting them via WhatsApp at 11 5095-6508. Free registration ensures participants can secure their spot in this competitive environment aimed at fostering camaraderie among gamers.

But the gaming action isn’t the only activity happening in Luján this weekend. A vibrant slate of cultural events is also planned, aiming to celebrate Luján's artistic and historical identity. On Friday, March 21, the Complejo Museográfico Provincial “Enrique Udaondo” will kick off the weekend's cultural activities with "30,000 puntadas," a collective embroidery project focused on raising awareness about the tragic impact of the military dictatorship on Argentina. Beginning at 10:00, this poignant project invites 30,000 individuals to each stitch a single puncture on a white handkerchief, symbolizing the 30,000 victims of state terrorism.

This project not only commemorates the victims but also promotes reflection on historical injustices, building a bridge between past and present. Gabriel Pitrau will further contribute to the historical awareness effort with a talk at Casa Cultural Ana y Rosa that same day, followed by an afternoon mural painting at the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Luján.

On Sunday, March 23, the activities will continue with the Carrera por la Memoria, Verdadera y Justicia, set to begin at 8:00 from the Unión de Vecinos de Cortínez. This run is a participatory event intended to honor the memory of those lost to enforced disappearances during the dictatorship, showing the community's commitment to remembering and fighting for justice.

The local arts will also be showcased this weekend, including a theater performance titled ¿Y los padres dónde están? at 18:00 at Teatro El Galpón. Following this, at 20:00, a march will occur in front of the Municipality, reinforcing the community's dedication to remembrance and proper commemoration of its historic traumas.

Additionally, festivities will include food stalls, artisan fairs, and musical performances, notably a free concert featuring Santiago Motorizado at the newly inaugurated Centro Cultural Municipal Doña Ana de Matos on Saturday evening. This cultural hub, expected to become a cornerstone for creative activities in Luján, will enhance the community's connection to its artistic roots.

Excursionists are encouraged to explore all that Luján has to offer this weekend. Whether celebrating the excitement of gaming or immersing oneself in cultural reflections, the events from March 22 to 24 provide an opportunity to engage meaningfully with the community. By participating, residents and visitors alike can actively support local efforts to promote arts, sports, and historical consciousness.

With all activities free or low-cost, there’s every incentive to join in the festivities. “It's all about coming together—whether you're a gamer, an artist, or a sports fan. This weekend encapsulates Luján’s diverse spirit,” noted an organizer. As the weekend approaches, anticipation builds for what promises to be an engaging experience for all.
