The reality series 'Onderweg naar Liefde' has captivated audiences with its unique format, where participants traverse beautiful landscapes, seeking romantic connections. Now, former contestants Alexander, Dave, Joeri, Krissie, Marieke, and Walter share their experiences since filming ended, illuminating their thoughts on love, relationships, and future aspirations.
Alexander, who traveled to Spain, had quite the adventure with participant Marieke. Reflecting on the experience, he stated, "I found it to be a unique adventure with the best crew behind the scenes. They made me feel right at home. Thank you, Tuvalu Media, for making it all possible." Despite the early challenges, like dealing with uncomfortable sleeping arrangements, he noted, "We quickly found a relaxed flow and had great fun together." Yet, he concluded, "We are no longer together, realizing we were not on the same page with our life goals." He wishes Marieke well and hopes to find his dream woman one day to create the family he desires.
Dave, who was on his bus trip to find love and ended up with Carmen, expressed nostalgia for the adventure. "It was unforgettable, full of new impressions, experiences, and meetings. The response to my participation has been overwhelmingly positive," he shared. Despite brief moments of connection, their paths diverged post-show, with Dave stating, "It became clear we both desired companionship but couldn’t sustain the distance. A LAT relationship isn’t for us." Dave continues to focus on his camper-project and wants to build his blog, hoping to work location-independently and travel more, all the enquanto enjoying life.
Then there’s Joeri, whose experience of dating through the show led to his choice of Krissie as his travel partner. He reminisced with mixed feelings, saying, "It was awesome, but it takes a toll on social batteries to juggle multiple dates at once." Since the show, they maintained their relationship under the radar. "We enjoyed our time together, but recently, the pressures of outside expectations made it harder. Still planning to ski, snowboard, and keep dreaming big!" he added.
Krissie reflected positively on her time as well, stating, "I look back with joy! My experience pushed me outside my comfort zone, and I'm grateful for it all." Her relationship with Joeri has flourished, leading her to state they have had many delightful adventures since connecting. "We are together now, enjoying our time and getting to know each other more every day," she smiled.
Marieke's story took an unexpected twist. Initially, she faced disappointments with her dates during her travels but has since found happiness outside the show. "I ended up alone on the love destination, but since then, I've developed a secret relationship with someone from Sweden," she revealed. Their mutual support for each other has helped her enjoy numerous outdoor adventures, leading her to pursue plans, including possibly building their own camper together.
Lastly, Walter offered his perspective on love following his time on the show. “Looking back, I cherish the insights I gained about myself and love. After seeing Roos-Marijn again briefly, I felt I couldn't fully engage after processing my experience. Right now, I’m considering more travels and exciting ideas for my camper.” His philosophy revolves around authenticity, stating, "Be yourself, and the right connections will come to you. Love can be beautiful yet complicated, and it's all part of the adventure."
Each participant from 'Onderweg naar Liefde' carries individual stories yet shares common themes of seeking genuine connections, self-discovery, and positivity, offering valuable insights to others on similar journeys.
