Lottery Draw Promotes Hecho En México Program With Major Prizes

Ciudad de México.- In a bid to promote the "Hecho en México" program, the Secretaría de Economía and the Lotería Nacional have issued the ticket for Sorteo Superior No. 2842, which highlights this initiative aimed at fostering the consumption of Mexican products. The lottery will feature a top prize of 17 million pesos, distributed in two series, and a total prize pool of 51 million pesos. This event is set to take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 8:00 PM, and will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of Lotería Nacional.

According to a statement from the government, a total of 2.4 million tickets have been issued for this draw, and they are currently available for purchase at over 11,000 locations across the Mexican Republic and online at alegrialoteria.com. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost national production and reduce imports, thereby enhancing the country's economic landscape.

The "Hecho en México" campaign, spearheaded by the federal government, aims to increase the percentage of Mexican-made products available in stores. “We aim to reflect everything that is Mexico, and this initiative is being replicated across the states of the Republic,” Ebrard explained. He noted that approximately 20 different working groups have been formed, each tasked with unique responsibilities in promoting this initiative.

In addition to the lottery, the Semana Santa vacation period in 2025 has yielded significant economic benefits for Mexico, amounting to 144,948 million pesos. This figure represents a 5.4 percent increase compared to the previous year, showcasing the positive impact of tourism on the national economy. From April 12 to April 20, 2025, approximately 3.43 million tourists stayed in hotel accommodations throughout the country, with 73.1% of these visitors being domestic travelers and 26.9% international.

The average hotel occupancy rate nationwide reached 67.7%, which is a 3.2% increase from the previous year. Notably, tourist destinations in the southern state of Guerrero, such as Taxco, achieved a remarkable 100% occupancy rate. Acapulco, another major tourist hotspot, reported an occupancy rate of 95.2%, while Ixtapa recorded 95.3%.

Moreover, Mazatlán in Sinaloa has emerged as one of the most visited locations, welcoming over 607,000 tourists and achieving a hotel occupancy rate of 91%. This influx generated an expenditure of 1,800 million pesos and included the arrival of 4,282 cruise tourists. Overall, Sinaloa recorded the arrival of 2.4 million individuals, with an average occupancy rate of 83% and an economic impact exceeding 3,200 million pesos.

The combination of the lottery initiative and the successful Semana Santa vacation period highlights the ongoing efforts to stimulate the Mexican economy through both local consumption and tourism.
