London Knights Claim 6-2 Victory Over Windsor Spitfires

Denver Barkey and Sam Dickinson lead the charge with multiple points in a commanding win.

The London Knights clinched a resounding 6-2 victory against the Windsor Spitfires on March 21, 2025, at Canada Life Place, highlighted by stellar performances from Denver Barkey and Sam Dickinson.

Barkey not only netted two goals but also provided two assists, earning himself a four-point night, while Dickinson scored twice and assisted once in his three-point game. The win propelled the Knights to an impressive 112 points this season, marking the second-highest point total in franchise history—only trailing the legendary 2004-05 team, which was celebrated as the Team of the Century.

The scoring commenced only a minute and four seconds into the first period when Dickinson launched a wrist shot from the right point to put the Knights ahead. Despite Windsor's Jack Nesbitt leveling the score with his 25th goal of the year at 14:55, Dickinson regained the lead for London shortly before the end of the period, scoring his 29th goal and clinching his 90th point in the process. This feat made him only the 17th defenseman in the Ontario Hockey League since 1980 to reach such a milestone.

Windsor’s Ryan Abraham tied the game early in the second period at three minutes and 48 seconds, but the Knights responded swiftly. Cam Allen connected with Denver Barkey, supplying a stretch pass that facilitated Barkey’s first goal since returning from injury, following a nine-game absence due to an upper-body ailment. Just under a minute later, Kasper Halttunen joined in on the scoring spree, blasting a power-play goal, marking his 20th of the season.

Barkey further extended the Knights' lead during the third period, making his return even more memorable by scoring his 25th of the season on a breakaway. Halttunen capped the scoring for the Knight with his 21st goal, sealing the 6-2 outcome. Throughout the match, the Knights demonstrated their power play prowess, capitalizing on two of five opportunities while successfully killing all four penalties against them. They outshot the Spitfires with a commanding 47-32 margin.

The Knights' next challenge awaits as they prepare for the playoffs, with the first game set against either the Sarnia Sting or the Owen Sound Attack at home on March 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. To rally support, fans are encouraged to wear white during games this postseason, and “Whiteout” shirts are available at the Knights Armouries.

In the NHL, former Knight John Tavares also made headlines by surpassing the 1100-point mark with two goals and an assist against the New York Rangers. Tavares achieved this milestone in his 16th season and currently ranks 68th in all-time NHL career scoring. He notably completed his junior career with the London Knights, contributing to the team’s Western Conference championship match in 2009.

Looking ahead, the Knights will finish their regular season with a road game against the Erie Otters on March 30, 2025. Though the Otters won their first encounter this season, the Knights have triumphed over them in all subsequent matchups.
