Livorno's Mostri Sacri Music Festival Returns

Celebration of Italian music offers stage to new talent and classics alike.

The Mostri Sacri Music Festival has returned to Livorno, aiming to celebrate the richness of Italian music and showcase new talent. Under the artistic direction of Toto Barbato, the festival kicked off on February 27 at The Cage, with hopes of rekindling audiences’ appreciation for Italian songwriters and their timeless classics.

The festival runs monthly through its current season, engaging audiences with various performances and tributes to legendary Italian artists. His comments highlight the festival's goal to promote the beauty of Italian music culture.

On the opening night, the spotlight was on Alosi, who is set to pay homage to famed singer-songwriter Adriano Celentano. Known for his engaging performances, Alosi has made waves with his own albums and collaborations, making him the perfect choice to headline. The festival lineup also featured rising stars like jazz singer Chiara Pellegrini, who honored Ivano Fossati, and GiulioMaria covering Edoardo Bennato’s classics, among others.

The festival isn’t just about established acts. It is also dedicated to young and promising talent, ensuring audiences are familiarized with the next wave of musicians. Event organizers have worked tirelessly to curate nights filled with emotion, nostalgia, and joy for attendees of all ages. Tickets for the festival are available for purchase via TicketSms, priced at €10 plus booking fees.

On March 1, the energy will continue as the festival presents the My Generation concert series, showcasing the Italian deathcore band Defamed. Known for their powerful sound and dynamic performances, Defamed has been recognized as one of the top bands within the genre. They first burst onto the scene with their single "Circles" and have since remained active, aiming to paint their performances with intensity and excitement.

Originated from the ashes of Down in Sulphur, Defamed is comprised of Mattia Maffioli (vocals), Massimiliano Foti (guitar), Davide Panigada (guitar), and Norman Ceriotti (drums). Their highly energetic live performances have garnered them fans not only within Italy but also internationally, and they promise to shake things up this March. They’ll be joined by local post-hardcore group Incovenience, bringing additional energy to the lineup.

The event will kick off at 22:00, with Defamed taking the stage at 22:30. Tickets for this event are also priced at €10, with special offerings on-site for early attendees, including drink tokens for the night.

The Mostri Sacri Festival presents itself not only as entertainment but also as a cultural initiative aimed at preserving and reinvigorifying Italian music. For anyone wanting to indulge their passion for both classic and modern tunes, this festival stands as the ideal platform to experience some of the best the Italian music scene has to offer.
