On Saturday, February 22 at 5:30 PM, the picturesque venue of Gattapone, located in the heart of Eboli's historical center, will host the launch of Piera Carlomagno's latest novel, “Ovunque andrò.” Carlomagno, a professional journalist at Il Mattino, is celebrated not only for her writing talents but also as the president of the Porto delle Nebbie association and director of the Salernoir Festival. Over her career, she has garnered numerous literary and journalistic awards, including being a finalist for the prestigious Premio Tedeschi del Giallo Mondadori.
“Ovunque andrò” is portrayed as a gripping narrative intertwining international suspense elements with the rich atmospheres of a grand family saga set against the backdrop of Lucania. The novel spans nearly a century and tells the story of the Monforti family, deeply entwined with the leather production industry, and the mysterious death of Raniero Monforti—was it suicide or murder? This unresolved question promises to keep readers engaged until the very last page.
Piera Carlomagno will engage with journalist and writer Raffaella Iannece Bonora during the event. To enrich the experience, musical contributions will come from Duo Familia, featuring pianist Carmine De Nardo and soprano Silvana Ruggia. The evening will also include performances of selected readings by journalist Titti Ficuciello. Admission is free, and following the discussion, Carlomagno will be available to sign copies of her book.
On February 21, 2025, another significant literary event is set to take place at the San Lorenzo Hall, also located within Eboli's historical center, at 5:30 PM. This gathering will focus on the themes explored in Stefania Limiti's book “Quel che resta del Caso Moro.” This event aims to offer insights and reflections on the political, social, and historical ramifications surrounding the Moro case, which remains remarkably relevant even decades later.
Limiti draws on new research and testimonies to analyze the shadows and truths still clouding this impactful case, exploring the various speculations attached to it. Joining her for this discussion will be Antonio Manzo, journalist and former director of La Città, and Arnaldo Miglino, lawyer and author. Institutional representatives, such as Mayor Mario Conte and Cultural Assessor Lucilla Polito, will also make appearances. The event, coordinated by Sofia Masillo and Enrico Tortolani, will conclude with a lively debate, encouraging audience engagement and allowing Limiti to answer questions and provide additional insights.
This event is open to all and is endorsed by the Municipality of Eboli and BCC Campania Centro, organized by Pro Loco Eboli with the partnership of Circolo di Libertà e Giustizia, ANPI Piana del Sele, Cittadinanzattiva, and Gattapone.
Tomorrow at 6:00 PM, Eboli will welcome its third “Libri in Centro” meeting, organized by the Lions Club Eboli Valle del Sele, at the Mondadori point located at Via Umberto Nobile 8. This project features periodic meetings with authors at the Mondadori point and aims to collect books for donation to inmates of the I.CA.TT (Istituto a Custodia Attenuata di Eboli) to support their right to read and provide them access to literature suited to their needs.
During this session, Gabriella Genisi will present her book “Giochi di ruolo.” The event will kick off with welcoming remarks from Nicola Danza, president of the Lions Club Valle del Sele, Tommaso Di Napoli, Governor of District 108 Ya, and Evina Di Canto from the Vito Di Canto Foundation. The dialogue with the author will be led by Angela La Monica, past president of the Lions Club Valle del Sele and series coordinator.
Born in Bari, Genisi has authored several books and is known for creating the popular character of Commissioner Lolita Lobosco, the Mediterranean's most alluring detective, featured in various novels published by Sonzogno. Titles include “La circonferenza delle arance” (2010), “Giallo ciliegia” (2011), “Uva noir” (2012), and several others continuing through 2023. Her upcoming novel “Giochi di ruolo,” which is set to release in 2024, will be discussed at this Eboli event, promising attendees an evening rich with culture, discovery, and communal sharing.
