Lindt's latest product, the Dubai-inspired chocolate bar, is taking the confectionery world by storm.
Fans are traveling thousands of miles to get their hands on this delectable treat, featuring flavors reminiscent of the viral 'knafeh' dessert popularized on social media. The Swiss chocolatier has introduced this unique bar to select stores across the UK, sparking immense excitement among chocolate lovers.
Inspired by a pistachio and knafeh treat, Lindt’s Dubai-inspired chocolate bar has already gained considerable attention, racking up over 90 million views on TikTok. Dubbed the 'holy grail' of chocolate by online users and termed as the most trending dish globally by Deliveroo last month, its presence has ignited cravings worldwide. The bar is crafted with crunchy pistachios and topped with Kadayif pastry, creating a luxurious taste experience.
Stefan Bruderer, Master Chocolatier at Lindt & Sprüngli, commented, “We're always tapped to consumer trends. After we saw how well the Dubai chocolate craze went down on social media, we knew we had to get involved and put our very own twist on it.”
Shoppers can find Lindt's Dubai Style Chocolate at locations including Bicester Village, Leeds Trinity, and Bluewater, with prices set at £10 for 145 grams. Due to its popularity, the bar has already been seen for resale at staggering prices, reaching several hundreds of pounds online.
Before debuting in the UK, Lindt's Dubai-style chocolate had already been available to eager customers across multiple countries such as the United States, Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. Enthusiastic chocolate fans previously queued for hours to snag their piece, evident when over 100 bars were offered for sale at the German city of Aachen, leading customers to travel over 4,000 miles just to partake.
Those who made the pilgrimage were not deterred by inclement weather, braving rain with camping chairs and waterproof jackets. With excitement palpable, staff welcomed them with samples of the exotic chocolate, enhancing the exclusive nature of the purchase as each bar bore unique serial numbers.
Describing their experience, Zi Cheng Lai, 23, from Malaysia, expressed, “It’s a hype, a trend on social media, with people waiting in long lines. We want to try it out here and be part of it.” Similarly, Leon Faehnle noted, “I waited 10 hours. I've been here since midnight just to taste this chocolate.”
But Lindt isn't the original creator of the celebrated 'knafeh' bar. The dessert was born from the creativity of Sarah Hamouda, a British-Egyptian entrepreneur, who founded Fix Dessert Chocolate to satisfy her own cravings. Hamouda remarked, “To be honest, not at any point did I think this was going to become global. It's insane what's been happening,” referring to the overwhelming demand for her creation, the 'Can't Get Knafeh of it' bar.
Social media has taken note, with fans reaching out for help on platforms like X to source the chocolate. Numerous posts echo the same request: “Whoever is traveling back from Dubai to London could you get me a fix dessert chocolatier chocolate bar cause I'm dying to try it?”
The success and desire for this Dubai-influenced treat signify the mainstream impact of social media trends on consumer products. Atmospheric reports from eager buyers capture the essence of the chocolate's allure, blending flavors with the excitement of participating in global trends.
Hamouda takes pride in the labor and love poured it her products, declaring, “We take a lot of time and effort, and put a lot of love.” These attributes not only make her creation desirable but also hint at the underlying story of culinary innovation and cultural appreciation embodied by Lindt’s latest chocolate offering.
