Liam Gallagher Rocks Wembley Before Heavyweight Showdown

Oasis frontman set to perform classic hits before Joshua faces Dubois for IBF title

Liam Gallagher, the legendary frontman of Oasis, is gearing up for what promises to be an electric performance at Wembley Stadium tomorrow night, coinciding with the highly anticipated heavyweight title clash between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. Fans are buzzing with excitement as Gallagher recently announced his setlist, which consists entirely of iconic Oasis hits from their debut album, Definitely Maybe, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Before the boxing match kicks off, Gallagher will take the stage to perform three beloved tracks: "Rock N Roll Star," "Supersonic," and "Cigarettes & Alcohol." He posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, sharing his enthusiasm: "SETLIST for the boxing tmoz. ROCK N ROLL STAR, SUPERSONIC, CIGS N ALCOHOL, tune in or get tuned in LG x." The singer's appearance adds yet another layer of excitement to the event, with the match itself expected to draw up to 96,000 spectators.

This will be Gallagher's first performance since the long-awaited reunion of Oasis was confirmed for next year. The band, which has been on hiatus since August 2009, will be touring the UK and Ireland with eight shows lined up, including two extra dates at Wembley, after demand skyrocketed following the announcement.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has tempered fans' expectations about the possibility of Noel Gallagher joining Liam on stage for this historic night, stating, "I doubt it. I think Oasis have their own plans for their reunion. But if there was anybody who could deliver it, I’d say it’s Turki Alalshikh." The boxing promoter hinted the brothers may save their collaboration for their upcoming tour, leaving the audience to appreciate the solo performance at Wembley this weekend.

Joshua, fighting for the IBF heavyweight title, is expected to enter the ring with immense pressure riding on him. He lost his belts to Oleksandr Usyk back in 2021 and is now aiming for redemption against Dubois, who is also British and notorious within the boxing community. Fans attending the match can look forward not only to Gallagher's performance but also to what is sure to be another thrilling showdown between these two heavyweight titans.

Liam Gallagher's knack for stirring up anticipation with every performance is undoubted. With his return to the spotlight, excitement continues to build surrounding Oasis’ future projects, uniting both music and boxing fans under one iconic roof at Wembley Stadium. For many, this event marks the resurgence of live music and the long-held hopes of witnessing the Gallagher brothers perform together once more.

Whether you’re there to watch the knockout punches or to revel in the nostalgic tunes of the '90s, one thing is certain: tomorrow night at Wembley will be one for the history books, featuring exhilarating bouts, fierce competition, and the unmistakable sound of Gallagher’s voice echoing throughout the arena. So, tune in or get tuned for what promises to be an unforgettable night of sport and music.
