LG Twins Dominate Kiwoom Heroes With 13-1 Victory

Moon Bo-kyung and Son Joo-young lead LG to fourth straight win

In a commanding display of offensive prowess, the LG Twins steamrolled the Kiwoom Heroes with a resounding 13-1 victory on April 8, 2025, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. This win marks LG's fourth consecutive triumph, solidifying their position at the top of the KBO League standings with an impressive 11 wins and just 1 loss.

The game started with LG's starting pitcher, Son Joo-young, showcasing his dominance on the mound. Over seven innings, he allowed only 5 hits and struck out 5 batters while surrendering just 1 earned run. This performance not only earned him his third win of the season but also placed him as the league leader in wins.

As for the offense, LG came out swinging right from the first inning, scoring 3 runs. Hong Chang-ki led off with a single, followed by Shin Min-jae's hit, setting the stage for a big inning. An error by Kiwoom's third baseman allowed Austin to reach base, loading the bases with no outs. Moon Bo-kyung then delivered a two-run single, and Oh Ji-hwan added to the score with a sacrifice fly, giving LG a 3-0 lead.

The second inning saw LG explode for 6 runs, effectively putting the game out of reach early on. After two outs, the Twins capitalized on a string of walks to load the bases again. Oh Austin stepped up, hitting a two-run single, followed by another hit from Moon Bo-kyung, who benefited from a fielding error by Kiwoom's Yasiel Puig, allowing two more runs to score. Oh Ji-hwan then contributed with another single, bringing the score to 9-0.

In the third inning, LG added one more run, making it 10-0. This time, it was Shin Min-jae who drove in the run with a groundout, further cementing LG's commanding lead.

Kiwoom finally got on the board in the fifth inning when Song Seong-moon hit a single, followed by a run-scoring hit from Oh Seon-jin, making the score 10-1. However, LG quickly responded in the seventh inning with back-to-back home runs from Kim Hyun-soo and Park Dong-won, pushing the score to 12-1. Kim's homer was particularly notable as it marked his 250th career home run, making him the 23rd player in KBO history to reach this milestone.

As the game progressed, LG continued to pile on the runs. In the eighth inning, they added another run, bringing the final score to 13-1 after a series of hits and a fielding miscue by Kiwoom.

Despite the loss, Kiwoom's starting pitcher Yoon Hyun struggled significantly, allowing 9 runs (8 earned) over just 2 innings of work. The team has now fallen to 5 wins and 9 losses, marking their third consecutive defeat.

LG's lineup was a force to be reckoned with, featuring key performances from Moon Bo-kyung, who finished the game with 3 hits and 3 RBIs, and Oh Ji-hwan, who also contributed with 3 RBIs. Park Dong-won added 2 RBIs to his tally, rounding out a formidable offensive effort.

With this victory, LG has rebounded impressively since their only loss of the season to the Suwon KT Wiz on April 2, where they ended a 7-game winning streak. The Twins have now shifted gears, winning four straight and looking poised for a strong season ahead.

As the teams move forward, LG will aim to maintain their momentum while Kiwoom will need to regroup and address their recent struggles. The next matchups will be crucial for both teams as they navigate through the KBO season.
