Lenovo has unveiled exciting new laptop concepts at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, showcasing its commitment to innovation and sustainability. Topping the list is the Yoga Solar PC, aimed at allowing users to work outdoors without relying on traditional power sources. This concept device features a solar panel integrated seamlessly within its lid, making it capable of harvesting energy from any light source. While the company has yet to announce plans for mass production, the Yoga Solar PC serves as an early proof of concept for Lenovo's solar-powered ambitions.
The Yoga Solar PC incorporates 84 solar cells with a Back Contact design, cleverly hiding all mounting brackets and electrical contacts behind the cells. This design allows the front of the panel to capture more light, achieving over 24 percent efficiency, making it more effective than most consumer electronics using traditional silicone solar panels. While slightly less efficient than the latest perovskite film-enhanced models, Lenovo assures the Yoga Solar PC can absorb enough solar energy from direct sunlight to power one hour of video playback within just 20 minutes.
On the performance side, the Yoga Solar PC is powered by Intel's latest Lunar Lake processor, features 32GB of RAM, and boasts 1TB of storage. With its lightweight design at just 15 millimeters thick and weighing approximately 2.29 pounds, the laptop includes Lenovo’s Dynamic Solar Tracking software to help users gauge the panel's performance based on current lighting conditions. Lenovo spokesperson remarked, “The Yoga Solar PC’s panel can absorb and convert enough solar energy from direct sunlight in 20 minutes to power up to one hour of video playback.”
Also showcased at MWC was the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, featuring a unique rollable display, which echoes the trend of high adaptability and versatility. Although it was initially introduced as a concept last year, consumers can expect its official release by June 2025, priced at $3,499.
Turning to product updates, Lenovo highlighted the redesigned ThinkPad X13 Gen 6, weighing merely 2.05 pounds after having shed weight from the previous model. It offers new AMD Ryzen AI Pro 300-series processor options alongside Intel’s options up to Core Ultra 7, with configurations supporting up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB SSD. The ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 will be available starting June 2025, with prices beginning around $1,139, as Lenovo continues to cater to the business community’s needs. A Lenovo spokesperson said, “We are excited to bring the ThinkPad X13 Gen 6 with even lighter weight and more powerful specifications to our business customers.”
Another major update is the first T-series convertible 2-in-1 launched by Lenovo as the ThinkPad T14s. This new notebook features a brilliant 14-inch WUXGA touchscreen with brightness peaking at 500 nits, complemented by Wi-Fi 7 and optional 5G connectivity. Lenovo considers the T14s to be one of its flagship products for professionals who demand powerful mobility. The ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 will also debut by June 2025, with pricing starting at $1,719.
Lenovo continues pushing the boundaries with its modular accessories announced for the ThinkBook 16P Gen 6. These concepts aim to utilize the Magic Bay connector, where users can attach additional screens for enhanced multitasking capabilities. The new add-ons include options like the Magic Bay 2nd Display and the Dual Display concept, transforming laptops to triple-monitor setups without additional devices. “These modular accessories for the Magic Bay connector provide users with unique ways to expand their laptop functionality and personalize their computing experience,” one Lenovo official noted during the presentation.
Among the quirky concepts revealed was the ThinkBook “codename Flip” AI PC Concept, which features flexible display technology, allowing it to triple as clamshell, tablet, or vertical screen configuration. This device aims to cater to productivity-oriented users who require versatile setups. Lenovo's principal researcher, commenting on the Flip's design, mentioned, “The modular accessories for the Magic Bay connector provide users with unique ways to expand their laptop functionality.”
With strong emphasis on adaptability and sustainability, Lenovo’s announcements at MWC 2025 represent their vision of future computing and user-centric designs. These innovations promise to redefine how users interact with their devices, offering increased functionality for modern work environments.
