Laurence Fox has denied sharing a compromising photo of TV star Narinder Kaur on social media. The 46-year-old actor-turned-politician appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 25, 2025, charged with two counts under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
Fox is alleged to have shared an intimate image of Kaur, who is 52 and regularly appears on Good Morning Britain and has previously been featured on GB News. The image was reportedly posted in April 2024 and is described as an 'upskirting' photo, which is a specific criminal offense in the UK.
During the court hearing, Fox confirmed his identity and entered not guilty pleas to both charges. The first count accuses him of sharing a "photograph or film of a person in an intimate state intending to cause alarm, distress or humiliation." The second charge alleges he sent a "photograph or film of genitals to cause alarm, distress or humiliation."
The police stated that Fox had been charged with an offense contrary to section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, which relates to "cyber flashing." This law, introduced in 2023, makes it illegal to intentionally share a sexual image of someone without their consent, with the aim of causing alarm, distress, humiliation, or for sexual gratification.
Kaur has waived her right to anonymity, which is automatically granted to victims of sexual offenses upon making an allegation. The Metropolitan Police have not yet identified the person who took the original photograph of Kaur.
Fox, who lives in Peldon, Essex, was released on bail with the condition that he does not contact Kaur directly or indirectly. Following the allegations, he expressed on social media that he would deal with the accusations, stating, "This is yet another deeply concerning example of the two-tier British 'justice' system in all its Soviet glory." He added, "I will deal with this untrue, ridiculous, vexatious and malicious nonsense just like last time they tried it on."
In his previous career as an actor, Fox is best known for his role as James Hathaway in the long-running ITV series Lewis. In recent years, he has transitioned into politics, founding the Reclaim Party and unsuccessfully running for London mayor in 2021. His political views have often been described as controversial, and he was fired from his presenter role at GB News in October 2023 after making comments deemed "totally unacceptable" regarding a female journalist.
The charges against Fox stem from a month-long investigation, and if found guilty, he could face up to two years in prison. Offenders convicted of upskirting are also subject to being placed on the sex offenders’ register.
Fox's next court appearance is scheduled for May 23, 2025, at Woolwich Crown Court, where he has elected to proceed with a jury trial. The case has attracted significant media attention, given Fox's public persona and the serious nature of the charges.
As the legal proceedings unfold, both Fox and Kaur will likely remain in the public eye, with the implications of the case extending beyond just the courtroom. The discussions surrounding consent, privacy, and the responsibilities of public figures in the digital age continue to be pertinent issues in contemporary society.
