Lauren Jensen Shines With AP All-American Honors

Creighton guard recognized as one of the best, leading her team into NCAA Tournament action

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton women's basketball guard Lauren Jensen has secured her place in history by earning an AP All-American Honorable Mention on March 19, 2025. This prestigious recognition marks Jensen as only the third All-American in the history of Creighton’s women's basketball program, solidifying her outstanding performance throughout the season.

Jensen, a fifth-year senior, played a pivotal role in leading the Bluejays to a remarkable 26-6 record as they entered the NCAA Tournament. She showcased her prowess as the team's scoring leader, averaging 17.8 points per game, and contributing significantly with 4.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 steals. With her shooting percentage hitting a career-high 45.6%, Jensen’s skills were on full display. Notably, she recorded 14 games this season with at least 20 points, including a remarkable 32-point performance against Drake and 31 points against Nebraska.

Jensen’s achievement places her alongside fellow Bluejay players Jaylyn Agnew, who received the same honor in 2020, and Marissa Janning, who earned All-America Honorable Mention from the WBCA in 2014. This recognition not only elevates Jensen's status but also signifies the growing legacy of Creighton women's basketball on a national scale.

As she gets ready for the NCAA Tournament, Jensen has already surpassed the 2,000-point threshold, finishing her collegiate career with 2,065 total points, including 2,042 points during her time at Creighton. This remarkable accomplishment puts her third all-time in scoring for Creighton and establishes her as a key player in their history, ranking fifth in scoring average (15.95) and second in free-throw percentage (86.9%). Her overall performance contributes to a legacy that includes 770 made field goals and 389 assists.

The No. 23 ranked Bluejays enter this year’s NCAA Tournament as a No. 9 seed and are set to face Illinois (21-9) in their first game on March 22, 2025, in the Austin Regional. If they advance past Illinois, they will likely encounter the formidable challenge of facing the No. 1 seed Texas, whose roster features impressive players like Madison Booker, Rori Harmon, and Taylor Jones, all of whom have earned All-American honors this season.

Much anticipation surrounds this upcoming matchup, as the Bluejays, with their stellar record and strong leadership from Jensen, look to make a significant impact in the tournament. In addition to her recent achievements, Jensen has been named to the All-BIG EAST First Team for the third consecutive year and also secured a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team, showcasing her consistent excellence.

This year marks a step forward not just for Jensen but for Creighton women’s basketball as a whole. As fans rally together in excitement, they look forward to witnessing the team’s heroic efforts as they embark on this significant NCAA journey.

With the tournament just around the corner, the future looks bright for Lauren Jensen and the Bluejays, as they prepare to take on the best in college women's basketball.
