Largest Career Counseling Event Attracts Thousands In Dong Nai

VNUF2 Open Day 2025 connects students with careers and educational opportunities.

In a significant event aimed at enhancing educational and career opportunities for the youth, the VNUF2 Open Day 2025 was held on March 23, 2025, in Dong Nai province, attracting over 3,000 high school students and 30 participating corporations. This gathering marked the largest career counseling and job introduction event ever organized in the area, providing a platform for students to explore potential career paths and university programs.

Dr. Nguyễn Sỹ Hà, the Deputy Director in charge of the Dong Nai branch of the University of Forestry (VNUF2), inaugurated the event, emphasizing the institution's prominent role in providing high-quality education and workforce training in fields related to forestry, environment, technical sciences, and economic policies. Established in 2008, VNUF2 has successfully trained undergraduate and graduate students for 17 years.

The Open Day served multiple purposes, including sharing information about recent changes in the national high school graduation exam and the university entrance exam for 2025, as well as outlining VNUF2's enrollment strategy. For the upcoming year, the university plans to enroll 1,000 students using four different admission methods: evaluation based on high school graduation exam scores, academic transcripts, National University of Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment results, and direct admission.

Proudly presenting 15 undergraduate majors, VNUF2 also announced a scholarship fund amounting to 3 billion VND for the current academic year. The funding will support 100 scholarships worth 300 million VND for students from Dong Nai Forestry High School and another 50 scholarships valued at 150 million VND for early registrants from various high schools across Dong Nai province. Dr. Mai Hải Châu, the Deputy Director, reinforced the school’s commitment to quality education and improving graduate employability.

“The VNUF2 Open Day 2025 represents a vital opportunity for students to familiarize themselves with university life and make informed career choices,” Dr. Nguyễn Sỹ Hà remarked during the opening. The event featured numerous specialized booths detailing various undergraduate programs and career counseling, allowing students to glean insights about working environments and industry expectations. This helped students align their academic paths with market demands and career aspirations.

On the previous day, March 22, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Federation, in collaboration with the Youth Employment Service Center, hosted a skill performance event titled 'Young Workers - High Quality.' Set to run until April 12, 2025, the event highlights the pivotal role of young labor in various industries while showcasing skilled professions crucial for the city's economic development.

The theme for this year encourages young employees to elevate their professions through skill development in high-demand areas such as semiconductor technology, robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and healthcare. Participants were introduced to the semiconductor industry with the engaging theme 'Semiconductor Technology - Opening the Future', featuring expert discussions and practical demonstrations.

Other showcased industries included robotics and automation, with the presentation titled 'If it’s difficult, there's a Robot', along with 'With AI, everything is possible' for artificial intelligence, and 'Knowledgeable beauty' for healthcare and beauty professions. This varied programming not only offered hands-on demonstrations and networking opportunities with industry professionals but also served to inspire and energize participants about their future career paths.

The skill performance event aims to create a vibrant space for young workers to interact with each other and leading experts, thus raising awareness about high-quality vocational education and its impact on society. The initiative seeks to promote Vietnam's youthful workforce potential amid globalization and technological advancements.

Both events clearly demonstrate a commitment among Vietnamese educational institutions and organizations to better prepare the youth for the challenges of an evolving job market. They underscore the importance of aligning educational offerings with specific labor market needs, signaling a concerted effort to cultivate a skilled workforce capable of driving economic progress.

As the demand for highly-skilled professionals continues to grow, initiatives like the VNUF2 Open Day and the Young Workers skill showcase highlight essential pathways for youth to gain vital information, training, and insight into their future careers. This dual approach offers substantial support to students, equipping them with both the knowledge and professional connections necessary to thrive in their chosen fields.
