Large Turnout For Linda Nolan's Emotional Funeral Service

Family and friends gather to celebrate the life and legacy of the beloved star at St Paul's Church.

Linda Nolan, the beloved star known for her impactful presence, was honored during her funeral service held at St Paul's Church in Blackpool on February 1, following her passing from secondary breast cancer on January 15. The ceremony celebrated her life and legacy, with notable emotional tributes from her family.

Anne Nolan, Linda's sister, highlighted the mixed emotions surrounding the event, saying, "It was very emotional, very sad, but on the other hand it was kind of joyous as well." This poignancy was accentuated by Linda's choice of a pink glittery coffin, which reflected her vibrant personality and humor.

Anne vividly recalled some of Linda's last requests, particularly her desire for the family to wear mantillas—traditional lace head coverings, which the family interpreted with affection and humor. "You know, the scarf things you wear?" Anne clarified on ITV's Good Morning Britain. Despite ordering the mantillas, the family decided not to wear them, reflecting on Linda's playful nature. "I think she might've been having a laugh there!" Anne said.

The service saw hundreds of mourners lining the streets, illustrating the significant impact Linda had on her community. "It was really strange because on the way to the church, there was loads, hundreds of people outside the church," Anne recounted, moved by the turnout. "My sister Maureen started crying... she said, 'I'm so glad because Linda would've been so disappointed if all these people hadn't turned up.'"

This sense of community was highlighted by one local woman's effort who provided refreshments for attendees, displaying the solidarity among friends and neighbors honoring Linda's memory.

Reflecting on Linda's legacy, Anne remarked, "She's going to be missed, such a lot. She was a forceful character. She was a big, big character in our family and many people's lives." This heartfelt tribute emphasized the deep affection and admiration felt for Linda by those who knew her.

Anne expressed her realization of how greatly loved Linda was, stating, "I didn’t realize how many people genuinely loved her until the funeral." This touching acknowledgment underlined the strong connections Linda cultivated throughout her life.

Linda Nolan's funeral was not just a farewell but rather, as Anne suggested, it was about celebrating all the joy and love she brought to those around her. The outpouring of support and tribute during this emotionally charged day spoke volumes about her life and influence.
