A red Lamborghini allegedly hit two labourers working on a footpath in Noida’s Sector 94 on Sunday evening, March 30, 2025, resulting in serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Deepak Kumar, a resident of Ajmer and a car dealer, has been arrested following the incident. The injured men, Dijen Ravi Das, 40, and Rambhu Kumar, 50, both from Chhattisgarh, were rushed to a local hospital where they were treated for leg fractures and are now reported to be out of danger.
The incident occurred around 5 PM when the Lamborghini, which was reportedly being taken for a test drive, lost control while returning from a shopping trip. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the car veering onto the pavement and striking the two labourers, who were sitting with two others. Fortunately, the other two men narrowly escaped injury. Eyewitnesses reported that the car was being driven at high speed.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, bystanders confronted Deepak after the crash. One man is heard asking, "Kya bhai stunt zyada seekh liye ho? (Brother, have you learnt a lot of stunts?)" to which Deepak, seemingly unfazed, responded, "Koi mar gaya hai idhar? (Did anyone die here?)" This exchange has sparked outrage online, with many drawing parallels to a previous fatal accident involving a speeding Porsche in Pune.
According to Bhupendra Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) at Sector 126 police station, an FIR was filed based on a complaint from Ganga Ram, the son of one of the injured men. The FIR includes charges under sections 281 (rash driving) and 125 (b) (endanger human life) of the BNS. The police confirmed that Deepak was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, as indicated by a medical examination.
Deepak, during questioning, claimed that he was distracted by an error message on the car's screen when the accident occurred. This claim has raised eyebrows among authorities and the public alike, as many believe it does not excuse the reckless behavior exhibited during the incident.
As the investigation continues, the police have seized the Lamborghini, which is registered in the name of a Noida resident, Mridul. Eyewitnesses have reported that the car was being driven negligently, leading to the collision. The incident has reignited discussions about road safety and the responsibilities of drivers, particularly those behind the wheel of high-performance vehicles.
Social media reactions have been swift, with many users expressing their anger over the apparent lack of accountability displayed by the driver. One user remarked, "Owning a ₹50 lakh+ car in India now seems to mean owning the road too. A Lamborghini mows down two laborers, and the driver reacts casually—no guilt, no remorse." Others have called for stricter regulations and penalties for reckless driving, especially in cases involving luxury vehicles.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers posed by high-speed driving in urban areas, particularly where pedestrians are present. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and responsibility, emphasizing that the lives of others should never be put at risk for the sake of speed or thrill.
The community is now left to grapple with the aftermath of this shocking incident, as the injured workers recover and the legal proceedings against Deepak unfold. As the investigation continues, many are hopeful that justice will be served and that measures will be taken to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
