Laguna Shia Dazzles With 2024-2025 Winter Illuminations

‘Light and Water Carnival’ features deep sea and space themes, including fireworks during Christmas.

Every winter, the Laguna Ten Bosch's Laguna Shia captivates visitors with its dazzling illuminations, and 2024-2025 promises to heighten this seasonal spectacle. This year’s theme, titled "Light and Water Carnival," weaves together the mysteries and beauty of the deep sea and outer space, creating a dreamlike world of light.

One of the major attractions at this year’s event is the six-meter-long giant flower hand-washing display, which is celebrated as one of Japan's largest. It features beautiful flowers floating on the water, illuminated by enchanting lights, drawing crowds eager for Instagram-worthy moments. Alongside this, attractions like the Crystal Arch and the "Tree in the Sky" are set to provide even more visual highlights, making it difficult to take it all in.

The enchantment of this display is complemented by the magic of the Christmas market, offering visitors delectable food and unique crafts. The illuminations light up from sunset until the closing of Laguna Shia, ensuring there’s always something different to see as the night progresses. Particularly breathtaking is the light carnival spreading across the night sky, evoking feelings beyond words.

Taking it up yet another notch, on December 21, 22, 24, and 25, special firework displays will grace the sky, complemented by shows featuring impressive effects, water fountains, and performances from costumed showcasts. These festive extravaganzas promise to make winter nights memorable.

The illumination event is set to run for a significant period: starting November 2, 2024, through April 6, 2025. Regular opening hours post-sunset will be maintained. Ticket prices for visitors are modest, with adults (middle school and older) priced at ¥2,300 on weekdays, and ¥2,500 on weekends, increasing on special days including the key Christmas season. Children too will find affordable rates, ensuring families can enjoy the seasonal festivities together without breaking the bank.

For those planning to travel, Laguna Shia is easily accessible by public transportation, with free shuttle buses running from JR Gamagori Station taking about 15 minutes or by car, with ample parking available.

Whether sharing with family, friends, or romantic partners, the Laguna Shia illuminations present the perfect backdrop for creating lasting memories. Why not immerse yourself this winter season and experience this spectacular exhibition firsthand?
