University launches initiatives to boost student employment and academic success through industry collaborations.

Kyung Hee University Steps Up with Programs for 2024 Academic Year

The university aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for successful careers.

With the start of the 2024 academic year fast approaching, Kyung Hee University is setting the stage for enhanced student opportunities and career preparation. By implementing several innovative programs, the university seeks to not only improve academic outcomes but also secure employment pathways for its graduates.

On March 15, the university will host the '2024 Winter Break Employment Strategy Program', focusing on providing job placement strategies across five major industries, including semiconductor, secondary battery, automotive, pharmaceutical, and display sectors. This event is intended for both Kyung Hee students and local youth, marking its significance as a community-centric initiative aimed at fostering local talent.

The program is set to kick off before the major recruitment season, allowing participants to prepare well in advance. With many companies expected to begin their hiring processes around March, this early engagement is both timely and beneficial for students gearing up for their job search. By focusing on practical training and direct industry insights, the program promises to offer hands-on experience and knowledge to students.

Collaborations with industry experts will play a key role, as the university has partnered with LetuinEdu to bring professionals who can share valuable insights and advice. These collaborations include presentations on resume preparation strategies, leveraging data for successful applications, and interactive employment talk shows where participants can engage with professionals.

One of the highlights of the initiative will be the '5 Major Industries Employment Strategy Seminar', which will see approximately six hours of concentrated discussions and Q&A sessions with active professionals, enhancing the direct learning experience for students. Initial sign-ups for the event have already been encouraging, with over 233 students expected to participate, showcasing the high demand for such preparations during the mid-winter break.

Feedback from past participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing how valuable such programs are for their career readiness. Comments include insights such as, "It was long, but I could focus and enjoy the valuable information shared," and "I realized the significance of document preparation through this program." These sentiments underline the program's capacity to engage and inform younger students.

Kyung Hee's efforts did not go unnoticed, as the University’s Job Plus Business Department earned 'Excellence' status during the 2024 evaluation by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, affirming its commitment to high standards in student guidance and employment support.

Further solidifying these initiatives, the university will also hold the 'Winter Alumni Mentoring Gathering' on February 17. This event encourages alumni who are currently employed to share their experiences with students, fostering mentorship and networking opportunities. Following last year’s successful mentoring sessions, 48 alumni are expected to attend this year's gathering to exchange insights on best mentorship practices and to discuss ways to improve the mentoring program going forward.

One alumni expressed the value of these sessions: "Sharing my professional challenges with students was beneficial for me too. It's about growing together through shared experiences." This reflects the university’s ethos of continuous engagement and learning among its community.

According to Lee Sang-won, head of the Job Plus Business Department at Kyung Hee University, these employment support programs are crafted by closely listening to feedback from both current students and alumni. The growing demand for mentorship programs indicates the effective need for expanded initiatives moving forward. Plans are already underway to broaden the scope of these offerings for the 2025 academic year.

Also significant is Kyung Hee University being designated as the 'Demonstration School' for the Graduate-Specific Program for 2024, emphasizing their commitment to developing career support frameworks not only for enrolled students but also for local youth. Recognition from the Ministry of Employment and Labor reinforces the strong impact of such programs, ensuring graduates find pathways to successful employment.

With proactive employment strategies and mentorship programs, Kyung Hee University is demonstrating its commitment to preparing students for real-world challenges as they prepare to enter the job market. The initiatives are poised to pave the way for students’ professional success, embodying the university's mission to connect academic excellence with tangible career opportunities.
