Kyle Juszczyk Returns To 49ers With Two-Year Deal

The beloved fullback rejoins San Francisco, aiming for rare 10-Year Club status.

Kyle Juszczyk is back with the San Francisco 49ers. Just five days after being released, the nine-time Pro Bowler has re-signed with the team, agreeing to terms on a two-year, $8 million contract. This return not only brings back one of the most versatile offensive players but also opens the door for Juszczyk to hit the coveted 10-Year Club of the franchise, where only 51 players have ever made it.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Juszczyk officially rejoined the 49ers on March 15, 2025, after testing the open market. The San Francisco team had initially released him on March 11 rather than pay his scheduled $4.1 million salary and potential bonuses. This strategic move came with the cost of a $3.6 million dead cap charge for the franchise. Nevertheless, the 49ers were able to bring him back under the new deal.

Juszczyk, who started his career with the Baltimore Ravens after being drafted by them in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, has emerged as one of the premier fullbacks in the league. He has been with the 49ers since 2017, contributing significantly to the team’s success, including championship runs and playoff appearances. "Juszczyk has been named to the Pro Bowl every year since 2016, and this stellar performance hasn’t gone unnoticed. The contract also includes $7 million fully guaranteed along with a $250,000 annual Pro Bowl incentive, demonstrating the team’s confidence in his abilities,” reported CBS Sports.

The decision to re-sign Juszczyk fortifies San Francisco’s offensive lineup especially considering his proven track record. He played approximately half the offensive snaps during his time with the 49ers, particularly excelling as both a run-blocker and pass-catcher. Ju^)/ szczk’s overall contributions have been noteworthy; last season, he recorded 19 catches for 200 yards and two touchdowns, complementing his rushing stats of 26 yards and another touchdown.

Speaking of the decision, Juszczyk’s wife, Kristin, shared her heartfelt delight on social media. She expressed, "This past week has really made Kyle and I reflect on our past 8 years in the Bay. We feel so incredibly blessed to have called the bay home for the past 8 years. Kyle’s curtain isn’t closed just yet, and we couldn’t be happier! We’re forever Faithful.” This sentiment echoes how settled and entrenched the Juszczyks feel within the fabric of the Bay Area community.

Interestingly, Juszczyk’s role has evolved significantly since he joined the league. The increased emphasis on 11 personnel has expanded his versatility, even seeing him line up as an in-line tight end on multiple snaps last season. His adaptability will likely continue to be invaluable for the 49ers, and they are reportedly pleased to have him at a more manageable price moving forward.

Despite the shifting dynamics of the fullback position across the league, Juszczyk’s success has helped keep it relevant. He has consistently demonstrated his prowess and importance to the 49ers’ schemes, which have undergone retooling this offseason. Previously, the 49ers had lost 11 of their 22 starters from Super Bowl LVIII, but Juszczyk’s return reduces the team's deficit to 10. This stability may be just what they need to reestablish their footing for another strong season.

Juszczyk's past nine seasons with the 49ers have cemented his status as more than just another player; he embodies the spirit of longevity and resilience. His return to the roster not only indicates the management's trust in his capabilities but also signifies the continued commitment to preserving their offensive identity.

For the 49ers, Juszczyk isn't just another cog; he remains a focal point of the transition as they navigate the offseason. His ability to engage as both blocker and receiver mirrors the broader strategies employed under head coach Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers organization clearly believes Juszczyk still has much to contribute, as evidenced by the $8 million investment. They are hoping to capitalize on his intact skillset as they prepare for the upcoming season.

With renewed energy and commitment, Kyle Juszczyk is poised to not only maintain his streak of making the Pro Bowl for the ninth consecutive time but also to contribute to the team’s goals effectively. The excitement surrounding his return reflects the optimism within the 49ers camp, signaling their ambitions as they attempt to reclaim glory as contenders.
