Kitayama Hokuto Makes Long-Awaited Return To Gobu Gobu

The comedian and artist aims to impress Hamada with unique experiences and culinary delights

March 1, 2025, marks a significant reunion on MBS's popular show Gobu Gobu, as Kitayama Hokuto makes his first real on-location appearance alongside comedian Hamada Masakazu after four long years. This unique episode not only aims to entertain but also serves as a refreshing step for both individuals who once shared camaraderie yet drifted apart due to professional commitments.

Hokuto's participation is particularly noteworthy following his recent join-up with the TOBE agency, which has led to diminished on-screen interaction with Hamada. An eager Hokuto shared his sentiment, saying, "浜ちゃんを喜ばせたい!ずぶずぶ大作戦!" (I want to make Hamada happy! Zubuzubu Operation!). His passion for reigniting their relationship underpins the episode’s theme.

The filming kicks off at the unconventional setting of a private sauna, diverging from the customary MBS entrance. Hamada arrives at the sauna and humorously chides Hokuto, questioning, “Why are you here in the sauna?” To which Hokuto explains, “It’s my routine to relax before [shooting] street segments,” making for light-hearted banter between the two.

Hokuto has eagerly planned various segments intended to delight Hamada, starting with exploring unspecified deep spots around Osaka where they can reminisce about their earlier escapades on the show. Reflecting nostalgia, Hamada expresses, "ごぶごぶの最初の頃を思い出すようなことさせてくれるな" (It reminds me of the early days of Gobu Gobu). This remark sets the tone for the episode, illustrating the significance of their shared history.

Further enhancing the show's novelty, the due has the opportunity to rent out the PRiVACE, the special paid seating section of the Hankyu train, making this the first time such arrangements were permitted for filming. Hamada was visibly excited about this special opportunity, exclaims, "みっくん、これはすごいことやで!" (Mik-kun, this is amazing!). The pair sit back, enjoying the amenities as they prepare for some fun, brotherly explorations.

Error! Further deep dives await as they head to Juso Station, where they plan to visit the famous Wakana Soba, believed to be the birthplace of station soba. Here, Hokuto's excitement surfaces as he insists on experiencing the Osaka local delicacy, cast udon, and enjoys watching Hamada taste something he loves.

With audiences eagerly awaiting their shared experiences at local eateries, both Hokuto and Hamada explore delicacies and local favorites. Eventually, they visit the 'Stand Merry-san no Sobaj', known for its challenging entrance which prompts laughter and delight from Hokuto as he declares, “I wouldn’t have been able to enter alone!”

This lively program not only nourishes past friendships but also paints the unique culinary culture of Osaka, making viewers feel both nostalgic and entertained. The episode culminates at the hidden gems of Osaka, encouraging viewers to appreciate the beauty of reconnecting with old friends and the joy of discovering local flavors.

Gobu Gobu promises to deliver top-notch entertainment this March 1 at 13:54 (local time), featuring Hamada Masakazu and Kitayama Hokuto. Don't miss this heartfelt reunion filled with surprises, laughter, and the essence of Osaka’s culinary heritage.
