Kirstie Allsopp Ties The Knot At Surprise Mayfair Wedding
Kirstie Allsopp exchanged vows during a private ceremony, leaving fans and friends surprised by her sudden announcement. The beloved television personality, best known for her role on Channel 4's Location, Location, Location, officially married Ben Andersen at The Grosvenor Chapel.
The wedding was inspired by the film Love Actually, which adds to the charmingly romantic narrative of the ceremony. This surprise event came as quite the shock, particularly because Kirstie had previously expressed contentment with her status of still being 'happily unmarried'. They had been together for 22 years, and this new chapter marks a significant moment for the couple.
Notably absent from the wedding was Phil Spencer, Allsopp's co-host of over two decades, as well as a close friend. Spencer's lack of presence raised eyebrows among fans, prompting Kirstie to explain the circumstances. "Most of our guests thought they were coming to celebrate Ben's birthday, and we did just what we had planned with lots of food, drink, and dancing—complete with our nephews and nieces running around," she relayed to the Mail on Sunday.
The ceremony took place at The Grosvenor Chapel, which holds deep personal significance for Kirstie as it is the same venue where her parents and grandparents were married. "On Thursday, Ben and I were married at The Grosvenor Chapel, where my parents and grandparents were married..." she revealed.
Kirstie’s desire for discretion led her to maintain the wedding as private as possible. Unfortunately, as she noted, there were plans for privacy overshadowed by the reality of having paparazzi nearby. "Unfortunately it turned out there was an seen pap, so I have released a couple of our own pictures," she mentioned, adding, "The upside is I get to thanks some of the lovely people who worked so hard to make our wedding special."
With vendors and friends working to keep the wedding preparations under wraps, Kirstie lauded the dedication of those who made the quick turnaround possible. Despite the last-minute arrangements, she expressed gratitude for how everything came together effectively. "The flowers, the catering, the order of service and the lighting were done by people I've worked with over the years who kept it all secret," she shared.
Not to be overlooked, Kirstie's dazzling gold sequin dress made headlines, as she shared her joy alongside her groom with the social media world. This marriage marks not just the culmination of their long-term relationship but also reflects their personal wishes and emotional bonds.
Detailing the day’s emotional highlights, Kirstie expressed how privileged she felt to listen to her son give a speech at the wedding, adding, "That's one reason Ben and I are looking so cheery..." This momentality encapsulates how the event was not just about the legal union, but about family, joy, and shared celebrations.
Despite their efforts for privacy leading up to the day, the impromptu wedding has rekindled interest among fans and the public alike. Kirstie closed her reflections by indicating her satisfaction with the celebration's outcome and the unique experiences brought on by marrying where her family has celebrated significant milestones. "To marry at the same church was always my hope, and luckily, I already know we did live happily ever after."
