During the upcoming New Year’s holidays, the administration of Kirov region is implementing increased safety measures and operational protocols to safeguard the public and maintain services. Governor Alexander Sokolov outlined these plans during the recent meeting of the regional anti-terrorism commission, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts across various departments.
From December 28, 2024, through January 8, 2025, the Kirov region will see intensification of activities associated with heightened security and public service operations. The festive atmosphere of celebrations, dubbed 'Kirov - New Year's Capital of Russia,' will be complemented by rigorous oversight on public safety at major venues such as Theater Square and Dynamo Stadium.
"All the heads of departments and municipalities are requested to provide uninterrupted work of all services. The main focus is on the utility services and road maintenance," Governor Sokolov stated, reinforcing his administration's commitment to effective management during this busy period.
Law enforcement and emergency services will be stationed at key locations to respond swiftly to any incidents. Sokolov emphasized police and rescue personnel's readiness, saying, "The organization of public order will be under constant supervision across the district with police presence at the events. Fireworks, traditionally associated with the New Year celebrations, will be omitted this year, prioritizing community safety over spectacle.
Healthcare facilities are also geared up to provide continuous services. With emergency medical services prepared to operate 24/7, the health sector ensures the availability of emergency care throughout the holidays. Reports indicate there will be necessary reserves of medical supplies, and specific facilities will cater to various urgent health needs.
"Health services will operate at full capacity, including consultations by specialists for complex medical cases," said health officials. Hospitals like Kirov Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital will deliver round-the-clock care, accommodating significant numbers of patients—especially those facing emergencies.
Residents may access emergency medical help day and night by calling unified emergency services at numbers 03, 103, or 112. For those encountering trauma, the Trauma, Orthopedics, and Neurosurgery Center stands open to provide timely assistance.
Pediatric care also holds importance, with children’s hospitals available for consultations and emergency care. On December 30, 2024, and on selected dates throughout January, pediatric specialists will conduct home visits to improve service access during holiday periods.
The traffic maintenance across Kirov is entrusted to contractors like AO 'Vyatavtodor,' which has mobilized various vehicle types to handle snow clearing effectively. "All contractors are prepared to guarantee safe traffic flow on the roads of the Kirov region, focusing on routes with substantial traffic and access points to populated areas," revealed Sokolov.
With multiple snow removal and maintenance vehicles operational, including combined road machines and graders, local authorities are ensuring proactive measures against icy conditions. "We will apply anti-icing materials and clear roads consistently to maintain safety during peak travel times," explained representatives from local transportation services.
Overall, during this busy festive season, the administration aims to keep everything running smoothly and safely, correlatively reflecting community commitment to public well-being. With proactive healthcare responses, diligent road management, and sustained law enforcement presence, the Kirov region is set for the New Year's festivities with confidence.
The overarching sentiment among officials reflects readiness for any incident, securing citizens’ peace of mind. Health services, safety measures, and infrastructure preparedness exemplify the region’s dedication to public safety during all holiday activities.
