Kim Kardashian recently opened up about the remarkable act of kindness her sister Khloé exhibited over 20 years ago during one of the most challenging periods of her life. On the March 6, 2025 episode of The Kardashians, the 44-year-old reality star recalled how, at the tender age of 21 and amid her divorce from Damon Thomas, she faced dire financial straits and was left without money to find her own home. It was then, she revealed, when Khloé, just 17 at the time, offered her the contents of her childhood piggy bank—a Coca-Cola bottle shaped vessel filled with cash.
“When I was getting my first divorce, I moved out and had no money. I was like 21, and she gave me her Coke bottle,” Kim shared during the episode. The piggy bank contained approximately $6,000, which was enough to cover Kim's down payment on her apartment as well as her first and last month’s rent. Reflecting on the emotional moment, Kim said, “We were up all night counting it and it was $6,000. She gave me her life savings at age 21.” The heartfelt act highlights the closeness of the Kardashian sisters and how they have supported each other through the years.
Khloé recalled the moment vividly as well, noting, “She was crying in my room and I was just like, 'I have this so let’s take what is in here and go to the bank to cash it.'” She added, “I gave her all I got, and hopefully helped her.” The gesture proved to be invaluable for Kim, who has since moved on from her first marriage, which lasted only four years before they divorced. Kim married Damon Thomas when she was just 19 in 2000, and they officially parted ways in 2004. Following Thomas, she had another short-lived marriage to Kris Humphries, which lasted only 72 days.
Now, decades later, Kim has enjoyed tremendous success, all the way to her current marriage to Kanye West, to whom she was married from 2014 until their divorce was finalized in 2022. They share four children: North, 11; Saint, 9; Chicago, 7; and Psalm, 5. The sisters can often be seen supporting each other both on and off-screen, but this bond has not been without its tensions. For example, Kim expressed frustration during this episode about planning Khloé's upcoming 40th birthday party, noting how her sisters seemed less than enthusiastic about helping.
Kim relayed her discontent to Khloé during their conversation, mentioning, “We’ve been planning her birthday for a very long time,” but lamenting how their family members were seemingly unengaged. Kim joked, “They’re all dead to me,” expressing her disappointment with their lack of participation as they enjoyed vacations instead of helping out with the plans. Frustrated with the planning process, she went so far as to say she would refuse to cover the entire bill for the party and would instead send invoices to her sisters.
Despite the drama surrounding the planning of Khloé’s birthday celebration, which is estimated to occur sometime around March 2025, excitement is certainly brewing for the event. Kim is collaborating with her mom, Kris Jenner, and event planner Marie Weiss to create the party’s theme based on the famous Dollywood, renaming it ‘Khloewood’ as part of Khloé’s new podcast title.
The planning process was filled with ups and downs, as Kim noted: “I’m definitely sending everyone a bill,” highlighting her irritation with her sisters’ absence. Eventually, Khloé’s special day also involves getting a surprise video from Dolly Parton herself, wishing her “Happy Birthday,” though the country musician couldn’t attend. Notably, Khloé received another surprise guest performance from Snoop Dogg at her big celebration, lending to the fabulous night.
Overall, the episode showcased the sisters’ long history of supporting one another, from Khloé’s heartfelt gesture over 20 years ago to the strong bond they share as they navigate family celebrations today. Kim’s generous repayment of Khloé's act of kindness, by giving her the same piggy bank filled with money as her birthday present, is emblematic of the gratitude and love they hold for one another. Kim concluded the memories by reflecting on how significant Khloé’s past support has been throughout her life, highlighting how acts of compassion can leave lasting impacts.
