Kazakhstan Weather And Road Conditions Report For March 21

Residents face shifting weather and changing road regulations as spring approaches.

The weather in Kazakhstan on March 21, 2025, is marked by a notable shift in conditions across various regions, particularly affecting road traffic. Forecasts indicate that no precipitation is expected today, featuring moderate westerly winds with air temperatures ranging from +1 to +6°C. This pleasant weather is contrasted by predictions for the following days, which may bring light wet snow.

On March 22, preliminary weather reports anticipate light wet snowfall in the northern parts of the country, with moderate snowfall projected in specific areas. Additionally, there is the possibility of icy roads and accumulation of wet snow on power lines and trees, as temperatures drop overnight to between -3 and -8°C. Daytime temperatures for Saturday are expected to hover around 0 to +5°C.

However, the weather is not the only concern for residents of Kazakhstan as road conditions also remain a significant topic of discussion. On the same day, authorities announced changes to traffic regulations following the completion of restoration works. By 08:00, the North Kazakhstan region reopened a vital stretch of national importance for truck transport, specifically on highway KAZ02 which connects Astana to Petropavlovsk. The affected section, running between 496 to 465 kilometers, has been made accessible after construction efforts concluded.

Meanwhile, restrictions on traffic were established in two other regions starting at 08:00. In the Aktobe region, the Kandyagash-Emba-Shalkar-Irgiz highway will see traffic limitations between kilometers 3 and 92. Similarly, the Kostanay region implemented traffic restrictions on the access road to the village of Marinovka.

Currently, a strong maintenance effort is underway involving 104 units of specialized road equipment and 142 technicians dedicated to ensuring safety and optimal conditions for road users. Kazakhstanis seeking information on road conditions can reach out to the 24/7 operating call center at 1403, which has been set up for their convenience.

Adding to the existing complications, weather forecasters previously warned of adverse weather conditions that could impact travel. As drivers hit the roads today, they are advised to remain vigilant given the potential hazards posed by both the weather and current road restrictions.

Looking ahead to March 23, light wet snow may again feature at night, but significant precipitation isn’t expected during the daytime. Drivers should be prepared for continued colder temperatures at night, forecasted to range from -3 to -8°C and potentially dropping to -13°C during clear spells. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach around +1 to +6°C.

As spring tries to break through, residents are facing a mix of weather uncertainties and navigating through road challenges that can disrupt their routines and travel plans. In these unpredictable times, keeping informed will be key for everyone looking to stay safe while traveling across the country.
