Kazakhstan has seen significant growth in its grain exports, with the latest reports indicating over 860,000 tons shipped out just last December. According to the Kazakhstan National Railway Company (KTZ), this pushes the year-on-year increase to 62%. "В декабре текущего года экспорт казахстанского зерна вырос на 62% и составил 862 тыс. тонн," KTZ reported. This increase can be attributed to enhanced logistics capabilities and growing demand from neighboring countries.
The month of December was particularly active for Kazakhstan, with total grain loading reaching 1.1 million tons, up 52% from the same timeframe last year. Internal grain transport also saw positive trends, with 227,000 tons moved within the country, representing an 18% increase compared to 2023.
Countries such as Central Asian nations and Iran have been key markets for Kazakhstan's agricultural products. Increased shipments to Azerbaijan and various ports across Russia and the Baltic states highlight the broader export potential. On the other hand, Ukraine is also recording impressive export figures. By December 27 of the current marketing year, Ukraine has exported 21.256 million tons of grains and pulses. This marks a 21.57% increase compared to the same period last year. The Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy noted the competitive edge of their agricultural exports, emphasizing the conditions for agricultural production and the resulting quality of the grains available for export. "Условия для сельскохозяйственного производства и качества есть, поэтому Украина будет увеличивать экспорт зерновых," said the ministry.
Among the types of grains exported by Ukraine, wheat topped the list at 9.63 million tons, followed by corn and barley. Each type of grain reflects varying trends and demands, with total grain exports for December alone at nearly 2.9 million tons, which unfortunately is 34.31% lower when compared to last year’s numbers.
